Year-End Targeted In Textıle is 12 Billion Dollars
Evaluating the export figures of the industry, Öksüz said, “This year, our textile industry is positively differentiated from the effects of the epidemic, breaking a new export record almost every month. In 8 months of the year, our exports increased in 83% of our export markets. We export to approximately 190 countries. In the January-August period, the countries to which we exported the most were Italy with an increase of 56 percent, Germany with an increase of 20 percent and the USA with an increase of 51 percent, respectively. As an industry, we have exported 11.8 billion dollars worth of exports in the last 12 months. By the end of the year, we foresee that we will reach our export target of 12 billion dollars by breaking the historical record of the Republic. Together with the ready-made clothing industry, we aim to have a foreign trade surplus of 18.6 billion dollars at the end of the year.”
Stating that they have risen to the 5th rank in world textile exports in 2020, Öksüz said, “We are the 2nd largest textile supplier in the EU. Our market share in European Union countries continues to increase. As the Turkish textile industry, we get a share of 17.5 percent from the EU’s imports. In addition to the EU, we are experiencing significant increases of up to 60 percent in all country groups, especially in the American Countries, Other European Countries and Former Eastern Bloc Countries. said.
We Will Increase Our Effectiveness in The Usa Which is the Most Important Target Market
Öksüz continued as follows: “The United States of America, which is one of our most important target markets and the world’s largest textile importer with an import of 43 billion dollars, takes place our focus in exports. Our fair named “I Of The World New York” which is the only sectoral export products fair among the Exporters’ Associations, which we held at the beginning of 2020 with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and the Turkish Exporters Assembly, as ITHIB, was very important for our sector’s sustainable export targets in the USA. Despite the global epidemic with the support of the fair and promotional activities we held, our exports to the USA in 2020 increased by 8 percent to 628 million dollars, reaching the highest export data of all time. In 2020, Turkey jumped one step in the USA’s textile imports and rose to 8th place. In the first 8 months of 2021, our textile industry exports to the USA increased by 51 percent and reached 547 million dollars. We aim to exceed our annual exports to the USA in the first 9 months of 2021. In order to make this success sustainable, we will hold the second of our “I Of The World New York” fair, which we organize in the USA, on September 28-29. As a result of all these efforts, we expect our exports to the USA to reach 1 billion dollars in 2021.”
