“Our Recycling Line and New Generation Carding Machine Attracted Intense Interest at ITMA”
Interview: Dilek Hayırlı
Visitors showed great interest in the next- generation card TC 30i, the new high-performance comber TCO 21XL with 12 carding heads, the new integrated draw frame IDF 3 and the recycling line, which the Trützschler Group exhibited at the ITMA 2023.
The Trützschler Group introduced its latest machinery and technologies in all segments, including Spinning, Card Clothing, Nonwovens and Man-Made Fibers, at the ITMA 2023. Among the prominent products in the fair; the next- generation card TC 30i, which offers high quality and productivity, the new high-performance comber TCO 21XL with 12 combing heads, the new integrated draw frame IDF 3 and T-Suprema, the needle-punching solution of Trützschler Nonwovens. Trützschler Man-Made Fibers showcased Optima, its flexible platform for all types of Bulk Continuous Filaments (BCF) carpet and Industrial Yarn (IDY).
Introducing Truecycled, its new brand for textile recycling, the company also announced their cooperation with Balkan Textile Machinery Inc.Co. As we Tekstil Teknoloji magazine, we interviewed with Dr. Bettina Temath, Head of Global Marketing Trützschler Group SE.
Temath gave detailed information about both innovations and collaborations.

Next- generation card TC 30i improves yarn quality, reduces costs
What were the products you highlighted at the ITMA? What will be the biggest advantages and benefits of these products to users?
We have highlighted the latest machines and technologies from the entire Trützschler Group. All these innovations perfectly meet the challenges in fiber, filament and nonwovens processing: Higher efficiency, better raw material utilization and more intelligent handling with self-adjusting features.
Customers were very interested in the newly launched machines such as our intelligent card TC 30i, our 12-head comber TCO 21XL and our integrated draw frame IDF 3. The topic of recycling and our cooperation with Balkan Textile Machinery was also of particular interest.
As Trützschler, you introduced your new brand, Truecycled, which develops recycling units, at the ITMA Fair. How did you decide to establish this brand?
Truecycled stands for state-of-the art recycling installations from Trützschler. These Trützschler preparation processes enable manufacturers to achieve a high-quality end-product from textile hard waste. t is based on Trützschler’s technological recommendations and a Trützschler machinery line-up to ensure best possible quality of the endproduct: Be it a ring or rotor yarn or a wipe. For example, Trützschler recently worked with a fashion company to make use of their own pre-consumer waste. Thanks to a special combination of Trützschler blow room machinery, the usage of TC 19i for Recycling and Trützschler draw frames, it was possible to create a ring yarn containing 60 % of pre-consumer waste – a true Truecycled Product!
Recycling is one of the most popular topics lately. What are the advantages and disadvantages of recycled yarns compared to traditional yarns?
A lot of textile waste is generated around the world and a great share of it is burnt in landfills. We need to find solutions for the recycling of textile waste. Yarns made of recycled materials can contribute to more sustainability in the textile value chain. The challenge is the processing of recycled materials to achieve the desired quality of the end-product.
What advantages does recycling offer for producer facilities?
If you are a fabric manufacturer, you have a lot of textile waste. You can use this waste as a raw material to make new yarns, for example. To use textile waste as a raw material, can in general be an attractive business model if you are able to achieve a certain quality level. Needless to say, by recycling of textile waste all manufacturers help to make our industry more sustainable.
Why is the digitalisation imperative to the future of a sustainable industry? What does the company implement in terms of digitalised solutions?
Intelligent and sustainable fiber processing is a very important issue for us, starting with preventing unnecessary cotton waste in spinning preparation – for example through automated sensor technologies like our Wastecontrol system. In addition, digital applications, such as our mill monitoring system “My Mill” fit perfectly with our proven intelligent machines, enabling customers to bundle resources and optimize processes effortlessly. Trützschler’s “digital world” is complemented by true service (online spare parts shop and personalized onboarding training) to create a real benefit.
What measures is the company taking towards ensuring a more sustainable future?
The Trützschler Group has set itself the target of ensuring climate-neutral production at all Trützschler locations worldwide by 2035. We are taking concrete measures to achieve this, such as more energy-efficient heating systems, as well as green energy supply, e.g. through the use of photovoltaics, wind and hydropower, or climate-friendly mobility and logistics. In terms of sustainability in the textile chain, we offer several solutions, including technologies for more sustainable fiber processing. Further, we offer complete installations for the recycling and spinning preparation of hard textile waste. The cooperation with Balkan Textile Machinery.INC.CO completes our product portfolio for recycling by cutting, tearing and bale pressing solutions. This makes us the first full-liner in spinning preparation for recycling! Trützschler Nonwovens and Trützschler Man-Made Fibers also offer systems for the production of biodegradable nonwovens and extrusion systems that spin BCF yarns (Bulk Continuous Filaments) from recycled PET flakes for carpet production.
How was the company navigated supply chain issues, rising raw material costs and the energy crisis?
We have increased our production capacity to make up for any delivery delays caused by these geopolitical factors. We also make use of our global network and other Trützschler locations – and we increased localization, especially in China for China and in India for the Indian market.

Did ITMA 2023 meet your expectations?
The ITMA is always a great opportunity to meet new and existing customers from all over the world. This show clearly exceeded our expectations – we had a very large number of visitors to our stand and a lot of interest from markets all over the world.
Which are Trützschler Group most demanded products in the Turkish market? Did the interest of Turkish visitors make you happy?
Many Turkish visitors came to our stand at the show. Our turkish customers appreciate our efficient and fast service all over Türkiye, which includes a repair shop for electronics as well as a complete stock of card wires.
How was the year 2023 so far for your company? Can you evaluate it in terms of your orders, production volume and export markets?
So far, the year 2023 has gone well for Trützschler. The ITMA was an important driving source, and we took home a significant number of orders for our machines and systems. Türkiye continues to be one of the most important markets for us. We are looking forward to supporting our customers in Türkiye to become even more competitive with our latest solutions.
