A New Era for Mayer & Cie.: Fast, Reliable and Customer-Focused Solutions
The future of the brand has been secured, and the Mayer & Cie. is returning to the market with renewed strength, a clear focus on customer needs, and a strong commitment to reliability.
Following the successful completion of the transaction, Mayer & Cie. Global is now resuming operations under new ownership. Xu Hongjie and his team are driving the restart from the company’s headquarters in Albstadt, building on the brand’s long-standing expertise while shaping its next chapter.
The goal is to realign the traditional brand with a strong focus on customer needs and market requirements. Mayer & Cie. will operate with greater speed, efficiency, and a clear commitment to delivering tailored circular knitting solutions.
Successful Closing Paves the Way for Mayer & Cie.’s Future

“We are very pleased that the process has now been successfully completed,” says Xu Hongjie on behalf of his family. “We are convinced of the unique value of the brand, the quality of the machines, and are deeply impressed by the technical expertise of the new team.” The young entrepreneur adds that he is very proud to now be part of this team.
Xu Hongjie is a member of the family that owns Huixing Machinery Co., Ltd., based in Shishi. The company manufactures and distributes high-quality knitting machines and develops the corresponding intelligent software.
At 32, Xu Hongjie has worked in the circular knitting industry for over 10 years, starting with sales and accumulating rich practical market experience. He proposes the concept of “Listen, execute, improve—and do it fast,” emphasizing rapid response to customer needs.
Mayer & Cie. Brand Rooted in Albstadt
The Mayer & Cie. brand will remain independent, with “a strong heartbeat in Albstadt,” as Xu Hongjie puts it. This means that research and development, production, and related administrative functions will continue to be based at the company’s headquarters. The new Mayer & Cie. Global will operate with a clear strategic focus on the premium segment. Its broad product portfolio ranges from single jersey to double jersey machines for applications in apparel, underwear, and home textiles.
It Aims to Regain Its Leading Position in the Global Textile Machinery Market
Accordingly, the objectives for the restart are clearly defined: the company aims to restore profitability as quickly as possible and, in the medium term, return to a leading position in the global textile machinery market.
To achieve this, the company is placing greater emphasis on the product the customer creates on the machines – the fabric. It is this product that ultimately defines the value of the machine. “Mayer & Cie. machines serve the outcome our customers achieve with them”, says Axel Brünner, long-standing head of product management at Mayer & Cie. Quality, precision and durability of Mayer & Cie. machines naturally will remain unaltered.
Under the new leadership, Mayer & Cie. combines traditional German values – thoroughness, structure, and careful consideration – with a more agile approach introduced by the new owner. “We focus on taking action”, says Xu Hongjie, “to respond to customer needs fast.”
The new management philosophy is also defined by shorter paths, less complexity, and open communication. Another key focus is streamlining the cost structure. This will be achieved, among other measures, through global sourcing and leveraging economies of scale in collaboration with Huixing.
