Breaking an Export Record, Textile Manufacturers Expect ITM 2022 Exhibition for Machinery Investment
The textile industry, which is among the leading sectors in Turkey’s exports, demonstrated its power to the whole world, especially during the pandemic outbreak period. Achieving an increase of up to 40 percent in exports of textiles and raw materials, Turkey also broke records after records in medical textile, technical textile, and indoor textile exports.
The textile and raw materials industry is taking firm steps towards its 10 billion US Dollar export target for 2021. The textile industry, which started 2021 with a record despite the troublesome pandemic outbreak, increased its exports by 19.5 in February and realized an export volume amounting to 967 million US Dollars. In 2020, technical textile exports increased by 75 percent compared to 2019, reaching 2.8 billion US Dollars.
The 2021 target of technical textile exports is 3 billion US Dollars. Turkey’s home textile exports reached 708 million 522 thousand US Dollars in the first quarter of this year with an increase of 19.6 percent compared to the same period last year. In the period of January and February 2021, the ready-to-wear apparel industry also carried out exports amounting to 3 billion US Dollars.
