Coats Will Reduce Both Water Consumption and Produce All Sewing Threads from Waste
Coats, one of the leading industrial yarn manufacturers in the world, plays an active role in the American textile arts market. Coats, which facilities located in more than 50 countries and headquarter is in the UK, began the first formation in Turkey in 1952 in Istanbul. The company currently operates in Bursa, where it moved in 1968. Coats Turkey, operating on about 80 acres of land in Bursa, produce for apparel yarns, automotive textile, footwear and protective textile sectors. In addition, the company proves its quality with its special products in the fields of energy and fiber optic cable yarns and thermoplastic composite areas.
Coats partnered with Israeli start-up company Twine last December and thanks to partnership it digitalized yarn dyeing with wet-process. The company which reaches a technology that dyeing the yarn in the desired amount and in the desired color, reduces the water consumption to zero by giving digital color to the yarn.
Coast, will reduce water consumption which used to dye a one kg yarn by 40 percent by 2022 and in 2024 it will produce all of the sewing threads used in the market from waste yarns. Coast, that planned R & D activities in three locations established the first R & D center in America, and the second R & D center in Turkey.
