Fadis: We Allocate 6% of our Turnover to R & D

Located in more than 70 countries all over the world, Fadis has been operating in the textile sector for nearly 60 years. Fadis has great success in the field of precision winding machines and has been managed by the same family since its establishment.

We made an interview with Debora Carabelli, Managing Director of Fadis, who invested in technology and research to produce innovative machines at ITMA 2019. Carabelli said; “We have increased our sales by 158% over the last 8 years.”

Which products did Fadis exhibit at ITMA 2019?

First of all, we are exhibiting new machines. One, which is very interesting for the Turkish market, which is Multipla Aquajet, which is really a novelty. It allows to make special yarns in POI. I am seeing that this is the biggest attraction we in the exhibition in this moment. But we brought 17 machines, 144 configurations. A new line of compact and efficient double-sided rewinders, with a complete range of machines with automatic doffing presented as a preview at the ITMA 2019. The highest level of ‘open platform’ constructional design is found in the Sincro Multipla machine. This is a ‘multi-function’ machine equipped with the hihg technology that distinguishes the whole ‘Sincro’ line, able to meet 8 different production needs: soft winder, rewinder, assembly winder, air intermingling machine, air covering, air covering from FAPP TM, MUFF and hanksi Air Covering Dual Core machine and the new Texturizating machine that presented at ITMA 2019 to complete the line. Brand-new and revolutionary, the S,ncro Copsy machine is meant to prepare cops and flanged bobbins. (i.e Hamel type)

What is your expectation from ITMA?

The market in 2019 is not a so good year. Everywhere, in all the countries. We have increased our turnover by 158% between ITMA  2011 held in Barcelona 8 years ago and ITMA 2019 this year. So it was very good. This year is a quiet year. Turkey, China, Italy and Germany have problems. All the countries everywhere in the world have problems. We hope the economy going to turn again.

How does Fadis strive to deliver reliable and new machines, new technologies for yarn machines?

Investing in technology and research. We have 10 people working in our company, to develop new technologies. And this is our work. If we do not improve Technologies. When we stop technology development, we have to compete with China. We must grow up very quick. So we invest 6% of our turnover in research in our company.

What have been your company’s biggest achievements over the past 12 months?

In the last years Fadis has seen an impressive increase in turnover. We increase the sales of, as I told you, 158% is not so common in our days. +100%, with a thirty-million- Euro turnover in 2018. Last year we were very well with certain countries. And people and customers are getting much more confident. We are in the market for 96 years.

If you assess in terms of export market, what is the importance of Turkey for your company?

I think Turkey is a very important market for everybody. We had some problems in the last 2 years. But I am confident with the new machines that we are developing, Turkey will again become one of our top four countries.

What are your customers increasing requests in terms of textile and yarn machines?

Special machines with which they can obtain certain particular effect on yarns. For cotton we have a lot of competitors. But on certain particular yarns, elastomeric yarns are very important. Elastic yarns which is the biggest market we are embracing afterwards.

What measures is the company taking to adapt to sustainability for professional manufacturing?

Fadis is an associate of ACIMIT. We are a member of three major sector associations and all other machines are certified. Because our company is obliged to respect and to invest in research to reduce consume of electricity. We are making smaller machines, much more compact, smaller with the same productivity so that you don’t need to buy, you don’t need to be in so big buildings to put our machines. Instead of space and building, they can invest in brain power.
