SDC Enterprises Builds On Successful Partnership

SDC Enterprises – the industry’s trusted supplier of testing consumables – is entering a new phase of development alongside sister company Sam Weller. Two years on from the acquisition of the specialist cotton weaver, SDC Enterprises has confirmed it will move to a new, purpose-built site, having outgrown its current premises.

SDC Enterprises Builds On Successful Partnership

SDC Enterprises offers an unrivalled selection of testing consumables for use in BS, EN and ISO test procedures. Having become the world- wide industry standard supplier of testing products, SDC Enterprises is the only name specified by many retailers to ensure quality and continuity across a range of test procedures for the garment and textiles sector. The globally-renowned company acquired Yorkshire-based cotton weaver Sam Weller in 2016. Two years on from the acquisition, the partnership has seen both businesses gather pace, growing by over 20 per cent in 2017, and exporting 60 per cent of their testing consumables and industrial fabrics to countries across Europe, Asia, Australasia and the US.

Following such significant growth, SDC Enterprises confirmed its acquisition of a new, 9.5 acre site last month. The company plans to build a new, purpose-built factory to facilitate the successful operation of both SDC Enterprises and Sam Weller at the Spinksmire Mill development in Meltham, West Yorkshire. The premises include a substantial number of leased units, and the development land required for the existing business to continue to grow.

Spinksmire Mill is located around four miles away from SDC Enterprises’ current headquarters in the West Yorkshire town of Holmfirth, ensuring that all existing staff can relocate. The additional space however offers ample potential for the business to grow, and explore new opportunities.

“Having identified new opportunities for growth, SDC Enterprises will relocate as part of a wider strategy to ensure the development of sustainable income for the charitable aims of our shareholder the Society of Dyers & Colourists,” says SDC Enterprises’ managing director Mark Yare. “The relocation of our existing workforce will ensure that our skills can be retained, and that we can continue to deliver a quality and consistent service worldwide while continuing to grow and develop.”

SDC’s full range of testing consumables includes its signature bestselling multifibre adjacent fabrics, standard test fabrics, verification fabrics, light fastness fabric, testing chemicals, phenolic yellowing products, Martindale consumables, grey scales, detergents and a range of auxiliaries from washing load ballasts to steel balls.

As an ISO 9001-certified supplier and the global leader in testing consumables, SDC guarantees that each product within its portfolio performs to stringent standards, reassuring manufacturers and retailers of consistency and reliability throughout their testing procedures.

Sam Weller meanwhile continues to specialise in the UK production of decatising blankets to produce the finest fabric finishes.
