Gaziantep Carpet Fair will be an Important Platform for New Business Opportunities
The Gaziantep Carpet Fair will be held at the Gaziantep Middle East Fair Center (OFM) from May 28 to 31, 2024. Organized by Tüyap Fair Group in collaboration with the Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce, the Gaziantep Carpet Fair will bring together strong brands in the carpet sector.
The Gaziantep Carpet Fair aims to host a large number of foreign visitors from the Middle East and the MENA region, as well as from North Africa and Europe. The fair will feature all production items of the sector, ranging from handmade carpets and prayer rugs to machine-made carpets, kilims, and mats. Additionally, textile floor coverings, fibers, yarns, textile machinery, and accessories will also be exhibited during the fair.
Supported by the Gaziantep Governorship, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, Southeastern Anatolia Carpet Exporters’ Association (GAHİB), and Gaziantep Carpet Weavers and Manufacturers Chamber, the fair will take place in 2 halls covering an area of 30,000 square meters. The fair will host 200 companies and representatives from 10 countries.
Visitors from the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, France, Australia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Russia, Malaysia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and Kenya are expected to attend the fair.
İlhan Ersözlü, General Manager of Tüyap Fair Organization Inc., stated that Gaziantep is a leader in machine-made carpet production and exports. Ersözlü said, “We believe that this potential needs to reach wider audiences both globally and in our country. We expect that the fair, which we will organize for the first time this year, will create a great impact in the sector.”
The Carpet Sector Brought Turkey’s Global Trade Volume to 17.2 Billion Dollars
Tuncay Yıldırım, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce, expressed excitement about the Gaziantep Carpet Fair, which will begin on May 28, stating that the carpet sector is one of the locomotive sectors of the Gaziantep economy. Yıldırım said, “It is exciting to have sector representatives from all over the world come to our city for the Gaziantep Carpet Fair. We have no doubt that it will greatly benefit companies in the sector in strengthening existing business connections and establishing new ones. At the same time, it will provide a positive contribution to the recovery of our region, which was heavily affected by the earthquakes on February 6, in terms of revitalizing trade and production. We invite all sector representatives to Gaziantep on May 28.”
The carpet sector has brought Turkey’s global trade volume to 17.2 billion dollars. Turkey, as a significant player in this field, has made approximately 3 billion dollars in carpet exports to 117 countries. The Gaziantep Carpet Fair will be an important platform for companies in the sector to strengthen their business connections and seize new business opportunities.
