İşbir Sentetik, Founded by Guest Workers, Breaks Export Record

With its production capacity and strong infrastructure, İşbir Sentetik, which ranks third in its sector among EİB members, ranks first among industrial establishments in Balıkesir. İşbir Sentetik, which ranks first among the industrial enterprises in Balıkesir with its production capacity and strong infrastructure, won the first prize at the Aegean Exporters Meeting hosted by Balıkesir Chamber of Industry. After the award ceremony, İşbir Sentetik hosted the EIB delegation at its production facility. The delegation visited 2 factories and the R&D center of İşbir Sentetik, hosted by İşbir Holding CEO Metin Gültepe and İşbir Sentetik Deputy General Manager Gürsel Ötegengil.

Emphasizing the export potential of Balıkesir, Metin Gültepe remarked: ‘‘We are extremely happy to see that Balıkesir broke its own record with exports approaching 1 billion dollars in 2022. We are very proud to be able to contribute to this success. It is of great importance for Balıkesir to develop industry, agriculture, trade and many other fields and to produce high-tech products. Thanks to all these developments, we believe that exports will reach the targeted 3 billion dollars in the coming years. As İşbir Sentetik, we have an annual production capacity of 60 thousand tons, with our facilities established on a closed area of 150 thousand square meters in three different locations in Balıkesir.  By increasing our production capacity and daily export investments, we will continue to provide added value to the national economy, especially Balıkesir.’’

Company Exports 64% of Its Production

Producing industrial packaging products called big bags, carpet backing fabric, polyethylene film, Compound Masterbatch and surgical masks, İşbir Sentetik exports to many countries, especially all European Union countries and the United States. Realizing 110 million dollars in sales in 2022, İşbir Sentetik exported 64 per cent of its products and provided 70 million dollars of foreign currency inflow to the country.

İşbir Sentetik, a subsidiary of İşbir Holding, started the production of the first and second carpet backing in 1968 upon the request of one of the most important wall-to-wall carpet brands of the period. The brand, which was the first manufacturer of carpet backing fabric in Turkey, eliminated the country’s foreign dependency on this product line. In the big bag sector, which is necessary for the transportation and storage of industrial products, İşbir Synthetic, one of the world’s largest manufacturers, produces high value-added production according to the content of the product being transported. While a large part of its production consists of big bag industrial packaging, İşbir Sentetik, which also has a strong position in the production of carpet backing in the field of technical textiles, is among the largest manufacturers in Turkey and Europe.

İşbir Sentetik aims to increase its production in India by 100 percent

Expressing that they have increased their production capacity day by day since the first day of the establishment of the company and that they have been operating all over the world, İşbir Holding CEO Metin Gültepe stated, ‘‘İşbir Sentetik, which was founded in Balıkesir with the entrepreneurial spirit of Turkish workers and has continued to grow since the first day of its establishment, continues to draw a successful graphic in exports. We continue to increase our production and employment capacity with our factory investments abroad. In 2017, we acquired all shares of İşbir Mewar, which we established in India with a 50 per cent partnership, and owned 100 per cent of it. With this investment, we increased our production capacity by 20 per cent by producing big bags with 600 employees in a factory with a closed area of 10 thousand square meters. We started research for a larger factory in India where we can increase our production capacity by 100 per cent. We deliver the products we produce here to our customers in the chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries in different countries, especially in Europe and the United States. In this way, we offer solution partnerships to many companies around the world in terms of product supply.’’
