Linea Becomes the Third Company to Produce “Cuprolyn Fabric” in Turkey
Gaziantep-based Linea Recycle Tekstil produces fabrics for the world’s leading clothing brands with a 100% sustainable and recycling theme. Linea Recycle Tekstil is among the few companies in Turkey that produce the soft-touch fabric with a cuprolyn appearance. The company plans to increase its production capacity to 1,500 tons per year.
Linea Recycle Tekstil, which entered the recycling sector in Gaziantep in 2017 with a new structuring and projection, recycles fibers such as cotton, polyester, viscose and lyoceall and turns them into yarn and fabric. Linea Recycle Tekstil employs 330 people, including 25 in R&D, P&D and marketing. The company transforms garment trimmings and cotton waste into fiber and then into yarn and fabric in its facilities located in Turkey and Spain. In 2023, the company achieved its annual recycle cotton production target of 1,700 thousand tons and aims to reach 2,200 tons in 2024.
According to the news that has been published in the Dünya newspaper; Linea Recycle Tekstil started to receive intense demand especially from Europe with the production of special fabric. Linea, which started production in August with an investment of approximately 60 million liras, already exports its products to Spain.
Erkin Eren, CEO of Linea Recycle Tekstil, stated that they are trying to respond to the demands in a short time by investing in capacity increase. In 2022, the company started to produce regenerative cotton fabrics for the first time in Turkey and supports nature and farmers with regenerative fabric production that provides less consumption, fertilizer and carbon footprint in the field. By 2024, production of Cuprolyn Fabric branded fabric is planned to increase to 1,500 tons with capacity investments.
“World-Renowned Brands Show Considerable Interest in Our Products”
Emphasizing that their company, which produces fabric and yarn for the world’s leading clothing brands without touching the cotton in the field, introduced regenerative cotton to Turkey, Erkin Eren said: “Increasing its recycling capacity, made our company to brought regenerative cotton to Turkey, which produces less water, fertilizer and carbon emissions in the field. World-renowned brands from different countries are showing significant interest in our products. We will soon include regenerative cotton in our system for other customers. Our farmers plant wheat after the harvest so that the soil in the cotton fields does not remain empty. They plant cotton after wheat. Wheat is not planted in fields where regenerative cotton is planted, which reduces water consumption considerably. In fact, the factories we buy cotton from are changing their irrigation management and switching to drip irrigation. They are reducing irrigation even more. They first sow alfalfa-type plants with high nitrogen content. These plants act as a natural fertilizer and protective layer. Therefore, it completely liquefies the surface of the soil. Because it liquefies it, it cuts off the soil’s contact with nature and there is no need to use extra fertilizer. Since fertilizer is not used, the need for pesticides caused by fertilizer also decreases. Thus, less agricultural machinery is used and less carbon emissions are realized.”
