Loepfe Introduces the New Yarn Clearer YarnMaster Prisma
Since its establishment in 1955, Loepfe has been among the pioneers of innovations in the field of textile quality control. The company has proven itself in the field of optical yarn clearing systems.
Located in the Swiss city of Wetzikon, Loepfe has around 150 employees. 50% of the fiber yarn production worldwide is monitored by Loepfe yarn clearers.
Knowing the complex requirements of the textile industry and offering state-of-the-art technology with special solutions, Loepfe continues to work today for the future’s solutions.
With a big focus on Industry 4.0 and Connectivity, Loepfe’s CEO Daniel Link said in an interview held with us that “In the years to come, we will be talking about how we can create value for customers, who want to take advantage of technology and not be defeated by technology.”
Loepfe had introduced the new yarn clearer at ITMA 2019. Can you tell us about this product?
The clearers were our main focus at ITMA. We introduced YarnMaster Prisma, our new yarn clearer, which will become a new standard in yarn clearing. Thanks to the multi-sensor measurement design and new functionality, these new generation of yarn clearers will support spinners all over the world in daily quality control. YarnMaster Prisma combines new and built-in sensor technologies in one device for the first time. Four sensor technologies interact intelligently and provide unprecedented error visibility and data quality. The new unconventional concept addresses all yarn quality issues related to materials and spinning with a universal and multi-dimensional approach.
Did ITMA meet your expectations?
ITMA was a productive event for our company. Our booth was quite crowded. We had visitors from Turkey, India, Italy and also South America. We didn’t have many visitors from China. At the end of the year, we will introduce our new products to the Chinese market at ShanghaiTex.
What have been your company’s greatest achievements over the past 12 months?
We brought new products to the market. We have focused on the products, we exhibit at ITMA, that were in use for several months. We will not only exhibit these products at the exhibition but will also sell them in the fourth quarter of the year. Solutions such as product preparation filters are currently used in India, Turkey and Italy.
Are you satisfied with the interest of your Turkish customers in your products?
Yeah, we’re quite satisfied. Our Turkish customers are technically advanced. They are interested in new products and needle products. We continue our cooperation with many customers. We have a representative office in Turkey.
Which demands of your customers increase especially in the spinning machinery industry?
Demands for yarns that are both new and have been on the market for several years are increasing. Most of our customers have expectations for measurement accuracy and quality. Particularly in foreign fibers, there are demands for continuous measurement under all conditions, and additional connectivity is also highly demanded. Therefore we share this data with suppliers and customers. We’re looking for ways to convert this data into information that customers can use. There is also a strong trend in connectivity and IoT.
What technological trends are you observing recently in the spinning machinery?
As I said, our main focus at ITMA are Connectivity was Industry 4.0. I think we are at the beginning of major changes in these areas. In the following years, we will be talking about how we can create value for customers, who want to benefit from technology and not be defeated by technology.
In your approach to manufacturing, what measures are you taking to adapt to sustainability?
Last year we got the ISO: 40000 certificate. We will turn all our packaging into lighter cardboards, so we are excited about this. This year we renewed our office building and established a beautiful eco-friendly infrastructure. I think this is the most important move we made compliant with ISO: 40000. As a leading company, we will work on waste management and reduction of CO2 footprint.
