Mesdan® S.p.A. is the Italy-based renowned manufacturer of yarn splicers for the knotless yarn joining, and quality control equipment for the textile laboratories (Mesdan-Lab division). Founded in 1952 in Salò (Lake Garda), soon in the 60’s and 70’s it became well known worldwide for its mechanical hand and automatic knotters.
During the 80’s Mesdan developed the splicing technology, for the knot free joining of yarns, and their application in the automatic winding technology, brought to a very strong growth. In the years 90’s the second division “Mesdan-Lab” was started, and in the following years the catalogue range continuously grew up until when in 2012 was completed, thanks to the acquisition of “Gavazzi Srl” and the integration of the dyeing/finishing line. In 2013 Mesdan entered the Savio group of companies, one of the most important European groups of textile machine manufacturers, and since then enjoyed of important strategic commercial and production synergies.
Today the product catalogue of the Yarn Joining Division includes the full range of automatic splicing solutions for all the spinners using the SAVIO winders: JointairÒ, AquasplicerÒ, Hot JointairÒ and MoistairÒ. Additionally, all the hand operated splicers and knotters for the following production situations where yarns are involved (twisting, rewinding, weaving, knitting, etc.), as well as for the textile industries processing technical yarns or roving, made of fibreglass, carbon fibre, aramid, etc.
Mesdan-Lab is one of few offering such a complete range of textile testing equipment, for the spinning (fibre and yarn testers), weaving and knitting (fabric physical testing equipment), dyeing and finishing (colour fastness, lab dyeing testing and assessment, comfort analysis) and a series of tools and accessories for the various production processes. Besides the ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications, the company is actually under the process of acquiring the ISO 17025 accreditation, as a testing laboratory.
