Saurer Appoints Yiping Sheng As New CEO
Saurer’s Board of Directors has unanimously appointed Yiping Sheng as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 April 2020. He succeeds Clement Woon, who steps down as CEO.
Clement Woon will keep his position as Member of the Board and continues to support Saurer – a globally leading technology company in the textile industry. Yiping Sheng has worked for the company for over two decades. He stands for stability and continuity, representing the next management generation.
Yiping Sheng (44), a Chinese citizen, is an experienced executive and leader in the textile industry. He has been working for Saurer for over 20 years, of these he spent several in Germany working as a design engineer. Prior to being appointed as CEO, he was a member of the group’s Supervisory Board, Vice President of Saurer’s China Region and General Manager of Saurer (Changzhou) Textile Machinery Co. Ltd. Under his stewardship, the group’s pre-spinning business has gone through a successful transformation phase, today producing machines that meet the highest quality standards, having built a strong reputation in the sector.
“The Board is pleased that Mr Sheng has accepted the offer to take the lead at Saurer. This heralds a generational change, and we are proud to transfer this responsibility to a young successor, a manager from within our own ranks, which ensures stability and continuity,” says Saurer’s Chairman Xueping Pan.
Yiping Sheng says: “I’m honoured by the opportunity to lead this great company. The firm has an outstanding global client franchise across its business units, all of which are underpinned by the strong Saurer brand. I’m looking forward to working with the senior management team, the Board of Directors and all of Saurer’s employees to further strengthen our market position and serve Saurer’s clients to help them achieve their goals.”
