Savio Plans Industrial Investments Worth Over 20 Million Euros
Interview: Özge Çağıl Sütcü
Savio goals for 2024 are focused on product innovation projects, but also on industrial projects that will be carried out in the next three years in the Italian factory plant of Savio. Industrial investments worth over 20 million euros are planned, regarding the optimization of production processes, with new production lines in 2023, an automatic warehouse in 2024, new mechanical processing and sheet metal processing activities in 2024-2025.
Savio has always acted as technological leader and innovative player in the textile machinery industry. Innovation technology and customer centricity are Savio drivers for developing new products. Initially, Savio was the first company to introduce computerized machines to the textile industry in the 1990s and more recently, we have followed this up with automation and Industry 4.0.
Automation and digital solutions have always been big drives for Savio product development in the last years.
We interviewed with Mauro Moro, CEO of Savio Macchine Tessili. During the interview, Moro mentioned the features of Proxima Smartconer, which they launched in 2023, their investment plans for 2024, the ITM 2024 Exhibition that they will attend in June, and many other topics.
The highlights of the interview are as follows:
“In 2024 We will Continue the Promotion of New Machines”
Savio goals for 2024 are focused on product innovation projects, but also on industrial projects that will be carried out in the next three years in the Italian factory plant of Savio.
Industrial investments worth over 20 million euros are planned, regarding the optimization of production processes, with new production lines in 2023, an automatic warehouse in 2024, new mechanical processing and sheet metal processing activities in 2024-2025. The project began 3 years ago immediately after the acquisition of Savio by Vandewiele, demonstrating the ownership’s desire to remain in Italy and invest massively in the production site.
Regarding R&D, Savio team has worked very hard in the last years for presenting two new machinery like Proxima and Lybra. In 2024 we will continue the promotion and consolidation of these new machines.
We will focus on many trials and samples for new Lybra Smartspinner® air-jet spinning machine, since for us it represents a new product line, a very profitable technology niche where we were not present until now. A great challenge for Savio, and a new product for which to become recognized worldwide.
ITM Exhibition is a Benchmark Reference for the Eurasian Region
2024 is ITM year, we will of course attend the expo in Istanbul excitedly. Turkey is one of the biggest textile markets for Savio, so attention to Turkish customers is fundamental to support their new projects with the most advanced and automated machines.
ITM Exhibition is a benchmark reference for the Eurasian region, so it’s very important to be there.
We will present our winding and air-jet spinning innovations in Istanbul, so look forward to meet all our Turkish customers there!
“Sales Worldwide Have Been Very Positive “
2023 has been very good for Savio, sales worldwide have been very positive. Turkey has suffered for the earthquake tragedy and its consequences that of course, it made us all sad, we continues to provide technical assistance thanks to our local team for overcoming the big difficulties that Turkey textile sector has lived.
2023 was the ITMA year, the biggest textile community event that takes place every 4 years. ITMA MILAN 2023 has been very successful. We presented two big innovations there, with a very good response from visitor s and customers.
In our reference markets, China, India, Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan and North Africa, there is a strong contraction in demand for new textile machinery. Order intake has started to decrease from 3Q 2023; now the market is very low, customers are in a “wait-and-see mode” because of inflation and the political instability worldwide. Despite the current negative economic context, our innovations have attracted a lot of interest; therefore, we are confident that we can do well in the coming years.
Savio in 2023 has launched on worldwide markets two new machines for winding and air-jet spinning: Proxima Smartconer® and Lybra Smartspinner®. These two machines are the result of the commitment of Savio R&D team in the last 4 years. It testifies Savio’s dedication to innovation technology and strong partnerships across the industry.
Smartconer is Designed on Tthe Main Benefits for Customer’s
Savio has launched on the market in 2023 the newest Savio automatic winder Proxima Smartconer®. The new winding machine Proxima Smartconer® is setting the benchmark in Savio automatic winding. We have combined the name Proxima with Smartconer®: it stands for a high-tech winding machine, capable of perfectly adapting to demands of Connectivity, Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet of Things.
Thanks to the innovations, spinners will get a machine featuring high-tech capabilities, thanks to a design with a strong focus on the main benefits for customer’s competitive advantage: high productivity, low energy consumption, premium yarn quality, automation, and data connectivity.
Proxima Smartconer® has been designed with the foremost attention to the customer’s needs in the optimal utilization of a winding machine.
Investing in equipment that enables to work faster and reduces manual and repetitive tasks, can increase both efficiencies and overall productivity. The same applies to a new equipment that does more of what is needed, faster, safer, with better quality but with less waste, less maintenance and less resource usage. Investing in new equipment as Proxima Smartconer®, as well as in Savio’s leading-edge technologies, enables spinners to be more agile and responsive as business needs change. It’s important to note that those gains in productivity and efficiencies while producing fault free packages, can generate significant cost savings. You can benefit from huge returns in terms of productivity with Proxima Smartconer®.
The high productivity of the machine is obtained thanks to multiple factors that help optimizing the performances. More kgs of yarn produced, high productivity thanks to: Smart Booster, new device for bobbin unwinding that increases the winding speed and reduces yarn tension, Fast bobbin change cycle plus 1 extra bobbin in reserve, Less power consumed per Kg of yarn produced, New yarn tensioner and shorter splicing time.
Lybra Smartspinner Offers to Yarn Manufacturers Low Processing Costs at High Production Rates
Savio’s new air-jet spinning machine Lybra Smartspinner® has been developed with an original spinning technology to serve our customers in specific applications of textile production: knitting, home textiles, sunshades.
Air-jet spun yarn has a soft and smooth character, perfectly adapting to creating functional & fashionable fabrics. With LYBRA Smartspinner®, we want to offer our customer a versatile, flexible, cost saving and easy-to-use machine. Air-jet spinning offers to yarn manufacturers the opportunity to produce yarn at high production rates and low processing costs.
One important technology of LYBRA Smartspinner® is the Multi Blend System. This onboarding system allows to use two separate slivers, instead of a pre-blended one, directly fed into the spinning unit; inside the spinning chamber, the fibres are mixed together producing a final yarn of same aspect and features as the standard one. Moreover, the system can modify the composition of the blend directly from the machine PC, without changing the feeding slivers. This allows a reduction in production costs and an optimization of the preparation lines. We can obtain different material blends but also different colour mixtures.
This application will be highly appreciated especially for knitting and home textile applications, producing melange knits and fabrics.
“We Expect Demand to Increase Again by 2024 Onwards “
There is a strong contraction in demand in the textile machinery sector at the moment. This is because of inflation and political instability worldwide. By decreasing demand, the entire upstream production chain slows down. And therefore, our customers postpone investments in new capital goods.
We expect demand to restart increasing by 2Q 2024 onwards. For the future, it will be fundamental the development of new and recycled fibres. Development and processing of recycled materials will be more and more expanding, so it’s an important element for the future.
