We conducted an interview with Ser Mekatronik General Manager Uğur K. Zeyrek for our Tekstil Teknoloji magazine.
Have the developments in the world and Turkey affected your company in terms of orders and sales? What are your remarks about this process as a company?
Yes, wars are unfortunate and negative situations for all of us. As a country, it has also had many negative returns for us. A global contraction occurred. Despite this, as Ser Mekatronik, we were positively affected. Especially due to the pandemic, people’s consumption habits have undergone great changes. Textile fashion is changing. As a result of the sanctions imposed by Europe against Russia, Europe turned to the Turkish market. In this way, we got out of the crisis with the least damage by exporting and producing.
‘‘We Started to Emphasize Hybrid Production’’
Sustainable and environmentally friendly production is gaining weight worldwide. As a company, what will be your priorities when developing products in the new period?
In response to the energy crisis, we started to prioritize hybrid production in our products. After the increase in natural gas prices, companies started to reduce their natural gas consumption and convert their products. 60-70 percent of the orders we receive include customers who want to make hot oil production. When the demands from the sector were in this direction, we, as Ser Mekatronik, started to prioritize hybrid production.
How was 2022 for your company? Can you evaluate it in terms of your production volume, orders and export markets?
In 2019, we started machine production. By 2022, our market share increased to 40-45 percent. The Uzbekistan market is important for us and we continue to grow there. We export important machinery to countries such as Bangladesh, Poland, Egypt and Iran. New markets are on our agenda, so our activities continue rapidly. In addition, we have become one of the market leaders in the Bangladesh market. We are progressing quite fast in Europe and Poland. During the pandemic process, we had the opportunity to close our deficits in other markets.
‘‘We Expanded Our Markets During the Pandemic’’
At what stage are your R&D activities? What are your targets for 2023? Will you have new machinery and investment projects?
The machines we manufacture are designed in our research and development departments. We are continuing our studies developed against the energy crisis. Our R&D center continues to operate. As Ser Mekatronik, we can say that we did not close our market in this challenging process, on the contrary, we expanded it. The solutions we offer for machine automation are as follows; adaptation of your machines to technology, less energy cost, faster fault finding, continuous production data collection, remote access. We will announce our other innovations to you very soon.
Your market share and export capacity in the sector is growing day by day. Which reasons do you attribute this development and rise as a company?
Our trained staff, 30 years of experience and understanding of quality products make it possible for us to grow and provide more services. We take action by following the requests of our customers and the needs of the sector in the products we produce. Our stenter machines are the stenter machines with the lowest energy consumption. We adopt a low energy and sustainability approach in our products. This is one of the features that make us stand out among our competitors. We also attach importance to technical service. As important as producing machines, fast service returns afterwards are also very important. Our late technical service means more cost and time loss for our customers. We are one of the best companies producing stenter, raising and shearing services in terms of quality in the Turkish market. Since we attach importance to the demands of our customers, we receive very good feedback.
