Singer to Produce Ironing Systems in Turkey
Singer announced that it has started working to realize production in Turkey for ironing systems in 2024. Sinem Kınran Parlak, General Manager of Singer Turkey, stated that if the projects are successful, they will manufacture in Turkey and contribute to employment.
Singer , operates in Turkey with a product portfolio consisting of home sewing machines, industrial sewing machines, ironing systems and all kinds of accessories and spare parts related to sewing, announced that it realized 33% growth in Turkey in 2023.
Singer Turkey General Manager Sinem Kınran Parlak said that with this growth figure, Singer Turkey has become the first in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region in the global ranking of the company. Sinem Parlak: “I can say that Singer Turkey has taken the top position in Singer Global in terms of growth rate compared to population and income level.”
160 Thousand Products Sold in Turkey in 2023
Singer Turkey shared the information that there was a net growth in the home sewing machine market in 2023. The company sold around 160 thousand products across the country in 2023. Mechanical devices such as electronic machines, overlock machines and embroidery machines were preferred the most.
In 1904, Singer opened a dealership on İstiklal Street in Istanbul, the first brand to have a dealership in Turkey, and is preparing to celebrate its 120th anniversary in 2024. Continuously improving its product portfolio since then, Singer increases its options with sewing accessories such as sewing needles, sewing feet, scissors equalizers, patchwork materials as well as sewing machines. Another product group of Singer is the ironing variant, which includes products such as steam boiler irons, steam straightener models and handheld steam straighteners. These variants, excluding sewing machines, account for 10% of Singer Turkey’s total turnover.
40% of Singer’s Turnover in Turkey is Generated from Online Sales
Today, in addition to its dealers and sales points, Singer also makes a significant amount of sales online. Emphasizing that online shopping is a growing trend every day, Sinem Kınran Parlak said that in addition to the sales they make through their websites, they also have dealers who make significant sales through e-commerce sites and that 40% of their annual turnover comes from online sales.
Sinem Kınran Parlak concluded her words as follows: “While 15 years ago there were fashion design departments in only a few universities in Turkey, today there are departments in almost every university. Young people are much more interested in creating products and making a difference in their clothes. Instead of wearing the same clothes as everyone else, people now prefer to use their own creativity. This is the biggest indicator that sewing machines will always be in our lives. Sewing machines will continue to be in our lives, both as a hobby and as a practical helper at home.”
