I believe that textile exports, which broke the record for the Republican history last year, will also be one of the strongest items in our economy in 2019. The steps taken to increase exports since the first days of the new year indicate to this progress. The most important one of these steps is the “Exports 2019” report, prepared by Turkish Exporters Assembly as a vision guide and roadmap. The five-chapter report includes the projects to be implemented by Turkish Exporters Assembly in 2019, and action plans for a strong economy. Chairman İsmail Gülle said the primary target is to reach 182 billion dollars of exports in 2019.
The Turkish textile and raw materials industry, which ranks the seventh in the world as the second largest supplier in the European Union, achieved this target for 2019 by completing last year with 10.5 billion dollars of exports. Ahmet Öksüz, Chairman of Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Union expressed that they target increasing the export figures 10%. Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Union initiated a project called ‘New Generation Trade Delegation’ in order to achieve this target. Öksüz said, “We are aiming to organize spot-on trade mission events by bringing together with all the global brands that we can reach on a location determined in our new generation trade missions.
We are the biggest supporter of every step taken to revive our industry. We will continue keeping the pulse of the industry in the best way with our publications, and to offer up-to-date news to our esteemed readers. In this sense, we have prepared an issue replete with quality content. In this issue, you will read the news from the leading companies in the Italian textile machinery industry as well as the recent news. As you know, Italy is one of the most important companies for the ITM exhibitions and for our own Tekstil Teknoloji magazine. For this reason, we had a 1-week trip in Italy in December to meet with the leading names in the textile machinery industry, which we have been working with for many years. In our highly productive interviews, we both shared our ideas and gathered information on the latest sectoral developments. We shared all these news with you on the ‘”Italy Special” file, which we prepared carefully.
Another important issues we have covered in our February issue is developments in the yarn industry. We started this file with a news story that is pleasing for the yarn industry. Our yarn exports increased by 7% in 2018 and reached a record high of 1.9 billion dollars. We also held interviews with important manufacturers in the yarn file. You will be able to learn about the latest technologies and investments in the yarn industry.
Hoping to meet in the next issue, enjoy reading!
