One of Turkey’s industrial representatives with its textile dyeing and finishing machines, the company has been exporting to many countries since 1979. Always aiming to produce better, more efficient and more quality products, Memnun Makina is taking firm steps to become a company that has made a name for itsef by expanding its product range over the years.
For this month’s issue of Tekstil Teknoloji Journal, we interviewed Kemal Memnun, General Manager at Memnun Makina, which has a valuable and important place in the textile industry. Enjoy reading!
Can you talk about your company’s progress over the years from its establishment to this day? What is your most important approach?
Our company was founded in 1979 by Yunus Memnun. During the first years, the company engaged in production of spare parts for textile machinery. Then, in cooperation with a textile company, we started producing sanding machines and jiggers for the first time in Turkey. I can say that Memnun Makina is still the only company producing these machines in Turkey. I started my job in 2009 and since that time we are going on our way adding innovations to our latest technological products by further strengthening our position in the textile industry.
Can you tell us about your products?
After 1990, a very different range of machines joined our production line, quite different than jiggers, dye printing system, and cylinder drying. We also have special lines such as pad steam dyeing. Recently, we started producing teaseling machines and we received very good feedbacks. In fact, our machines are in operation in several companies in Çorlu at the moment.
Are you exporting? If you do, to which countries?
The number of countries we exported to reached twenty three. These include Germany, Poland, Russia, Austria, Ukraine, Switzerland, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. We also have joint projects with some companies both in and outside of Turkey. We have established connections with South America after the ITM 2018 Fair. We are also building an infrastructure to be active there.
What are the criteria that you particularly care about in your production?
We are being carefull about our certificates being complete. We have an ISO document. In addition, the TÜV certificate is needed for exports to Germany, and the GOST-R certificate to Russia. We are trying to manage our production in line with these certificates. We even obtained domestic goods certificate for some of our products. We are presenting this document to our customers as it is covered by the incentive programs.
What are the vital points you tend to when you are investing in machinery and technology to sustain your competitiveness and quality?
When we invest, we pay attention to factors such as how much faster we can make our production. We are trying to carry out many manufacturing steps such as transforming laser and bending machines to CNC to accelerate our production. All these machines in production have a certain lifetime. We ensure that they have a longer lifetime by performing their continuous maintenance and updating them with new technologies. In regards to marketing, we have built a representative network in many countries. Also we are renewing all our products by making investments on a constnat basis. We are aiming to have a stronger say in the world by improving ourselves.
Do you perform technological updates according to customer requirements? How do you approach such needs and demands?
In addition to standard production, we also develop products according to the customer demands. We decide on this by making designs together with our customers according to their needs and creating a cost sheet.
Can you talk about your after-sales technical services?
We bring in here teams trained by our own representatives and we train them here. A team emerges that can offer seamless solutions afterwards. Although not in every country, we did it in most countries. Now we can serve directly within the same country. For other countries, we are sending service teams from Turkey.
What are the latest innovations and next projects?
Thanks to our R&D efforts, we are building a machine, which can be manufactured by only one company in Turkey. We will announce this to the industry as soon as possible. Also, we have been engaged in projects with TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey). Four of our projects have been approved by TÜBITAK. We obtained certificates of achievement for all of them. We also have projects with KOSGEB (Small and Medium Industry Development Organization). We are currently awaiting the approval for our application to our KOBIGEL project.
Will you be participating in the ITM 2020?
Definitely. We have already made an agreement for the ITM 2020 Exhibition. We will also expand this area at the ITM 2020 because we know that our usual location will not suffice. We will do the global launching of the new projects we have developed in ITM 2020. We are very excited about this.
