Interview: Dilek Hayırlı
İdes Makina Co-Founder Emin Arslan said, “We continue on our way to make İdes Makina a world brand with our innovative and customer-oriented development determination. In the future, we want to increase our exports especially in South America and Africa.”
İdes Makina, a manufacturer of fabric dyeing and finishing machines, was founded in 2015 by founding partners Emin Arslan and İbrahim Akbaba. İdes, which has developed both domestically and internationally in a short period of time and has made rapid progress, exports 70% of its production today. The most important priority of the company, which aims to double its market share both at home and abroad in the near future, is to produce eco-friendly machines.
We interviewed with Emin Arslan, Founding Partner of İdes Makina, for our Tekstil Teknoloji magazine. Arslan, who evaluated the year 2024 and gave information about their products, talked about their projects in the near future. The highlights of the interview are as follows:
“We Export 70% of Our Production”
What is the position of İdes in the textile machinery market today? Can you give information about your production volume and export figures? What is your target for the Turkish and world textile machinery market in the near future?
With our founding partner İbrahim Akbaba, we established our company in 2015, taking strength from the experience and knowledge we have gained in the machinery sector for many years. We are in a position that is developing both domestically and abroad and making rapid progress. With our innovative and customer-oriented development determination, we continue on our way to make İdes Makina a world brand. We export 70% of our production. We are taking firm steps towards our goal of doubling our market share both at home and abroad in the near future.
Can you provide information about your export markets and overseas structuring? Which markets do you target in your future growth strategy?
Our exports are currently concentrated in Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, India, Russia and Morocco. We have representatives in these countries. In addition, we want to develop projects to cooperate with local universities and contribute to social responsibility projects. In the future, we want to increase our exports, especially in the South America and Africa markets.
“We are at the Forefront in terms of Water Consumption, Energy, Time and Space Saving”
What kind of changes have occurred in the demands of dyeing and finishing machine users recently? How do you respond to these demands as İdes?
In the dyeing and finishing field, user demands are particularly focused on consumption rates. As it is known, both the world and our country attach great importance to ‘Climate Change’, ‘Green Transformation’ and ‘Sustainability’ for our future. These have become the most important issues for companies with the increase in awareness. With the innovative approach in our machine design, we have a machine that is 35-40% more compact compared to conventional machines. As a result, we are at the forefront in terms of water consumption and, of course, energy, time and space saving accordingly.
What are the challenges encountered in finishing processes? What kind of advantages do İdes machines provide to the customer in this regard?
We can summarize the problems faced by companies in finishing and dyeing processes as follows:
-The lack of pre-washing of fabrics, especially in finishing processes, leads to extra time loss in fixing processes after dyeing. As İdes, we are able to meet this need of companies with the pre-washing machine we manufacture.
-One of the most important problems encountered in the dyeing process is that the nominal loading capacity cannot be 100%. İdes machines offer the opportunity to load literally 100%.
-Another one of the most important issues about the machines is that the malfunctions caused by the use of Plaiter cause loss of time. İdes machines completely eliminate the use of plaiter and prevent loss of time and labor due to possible malfunctions.
In addition, the fact that our nozzles are one-piece castings, that is, manufactured without welding, ensures that these nozzles, which are the most critical part of the machine, have a longer life.
“Compared to Conventional Machines, We Have a 35-40% More Compact Machine”
Considering that there is an energy crisis and water scarcity is not far away, what kind of measures do you take for environmentally friendly and sustainable production? How environmentally friendly and sustainable are your products?
As İdes, our priority is to produce and develop environmentally friendly machines. We aim to contribute to the world, our country and our companies by minimizing water consumption. You are aware that water consumption is one of the most important issues in the sector. After all, textile means water. Thanks to the machines we produce; we can easily claim that we are in the top position in terms of environmental friendliness and sustainability in our sector.
The first condition for producing a machine that will contribute to both environmental friendliness and sustainability is to have a more compact machine. We would like to reiterate that with the innovative approach in our machine design, we have a 35-40% more compact machine compared to conventional machines. This directly affects water consumption. Therefore, we provide our customers with less energy consumption thanks to the low flotation rate. This is an opportunity that we contribute not only to our customers but also to our world and our country, and moreover to the green future of our humanity.
Digitalization is essential for the future of a sustainable industry. What are your digitalized solutions as a company? Can you tell us about the advantages these products provide to users?
Digitalization is undoubtedly vital within the system. Our machines are fully compatible with automation systems and designed to provide maximum benefit to our customers. It is possible to produce instant and fast solutions to the problems that occur with remote access.
“We Establish Offices and Keep Permanent Technical Staff in the Countries We Sell”
What do you offer to your customers as İdes in terms of after-sales services? What kind of feedback do you receive from your customers at this point? What kind of activities do you carry out to increase your brand awareness and customer satisfaction?
After-sales service and service is one of the most important issues in terms of customer satisfaction. Especially if you are an exporter company, it is inevitable for the development and reputation of the company to provide service and service to your customers thousands of kilometers away as soon as possible. Always aware of this, İdes establishes offices and keep permanent technical staff in the countries where we sell. We also keep spare parts stocks in these offices to meet the needs of our customers immediately.
We left 2024 behind. How was the year for your company? Can you evaluate your customer, export and production figures? How did factors such as the economic crisis affecting the whole world and Turkey, cost increases, fluctuations in exchange rates affect your company?
Our development has been thanks to the importance we attach to financial engineering as well as our work in the field of R&D as an engineering company. In this sense, thanks to the financial engineering we successfully managed, the risks for 2024 were foreseen and hedged.
Finally; what are your expectations and predictions for the Turkish textile and machinery industry in 2025? Do you have any projects such as new product development, investment or cooperation?
As it is known, our country aims to grow based on exports. In this sense, expanding its market share and searching for new markets are among the most important goals of our company. As İdes, we will continue to make investments that will realize these goals. Finally, İdes will continue its progress towards becoming a valuable brand for its country and employees with firm steps.
