World-renowned Brands Now Prefer Turkey for Production

Necip GÜNEY
In spite of the negative effects such as inflation rates and exchange rate increases, good news from the textile industry keeps coming. Many companies in the industry have strengthened their infrastructure for serial production and quick supply with their investments in automation and modernization, and increased their employment with entirely new investments. Famous European brands diverted their interest in Turkey again because of the exhange rate advantages and geographical proximity.
Foreign buyers, who prefer the Far East for lower costs, began to have many goods produced in Turkey. While the world-famous textile brand H&M decided to move their orders from China to Turkey, Marks & Spencer also chose Turkey as their production base. The world’s giant Zara, however, did not give up on Turkey in spite of all the rumors.
In addition, while in Bursa the number of investment incentive certificates increased by 3 times compared to the previous year, the amount of the incentives has increased from 300 million Turkish Lira to 967 million Turkish Lira. In the entirely new investments, an almost two-times increase was recorded.
Textile exports regained an upward movement in September. While Turkey’s overall exports increased by 22.6% to USD 14.5 billion in September, exports of textiles and raw materials increased by 7.2% to 883 million USD. September 2018 was recorded as the September with the highest exports ever.
On the other hand, we are preparing to leave behind the year 2018 full of exhibitions, events and visits. Looking back at the year to refresh our memories, we see that the most important organization for us in 2018 was undoubtedly the ITM 2018 International Textile Machinery Exhibition, during which we broke a record with the number of participants and visitors. Other important events of the year were the Cinte Techtextil Exhibition and the ITMA Asia + Citme 2018. As Teknik Fuarcılık, we have had the opportunity to attend these two events held in Shanghai, and keep the pulse of the industry on the spot.
At ITMA Asia, where a wide range of solutions were offered for the production of technical textiles and nonwovens as well as automation and sustainable production, the European companies’ booths were worth seeing. In our November and December issues, you will be able to read about the new technologies and latest products of participants at the ITMA Asia + Citme, and you will be informed on these innovations.
Participants and visitors, who visited our booth at the exhibition, received information on the ITM 2020 and HIGHTEX 2020 exhibitions. Our visitors, who showed intensive attention at our booth, also examined our publications with great interest. The feedback we received from the company representatives has already signaled that the ITM 2020 will be very lively.
Wishing you a pleasant reading, and hoping the new investments to increase, and the industry to grow more and more each day.
