16 Textile Factories will Start Production in Van
In line with the demands of the investors coming to the city, the 42-hectare area in the Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) campus was parceled out with the support of DAKA and allocated to the companies.
The construction of 10 factories, where the companies in İzmir, which are members of the Aegean Ready—to-Wear and Apparel Exporters’ Association, laid the foundations for the relevant lands by benefiting from the incentives of the 6th region, have come to end.
6 factory buildings, the construction of which was completed within the scope of the “Working and Producing Youth Program” carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, were allocated to companies.
In Van, where 8 thousand young people are employed in the textile sector, thousands of new jobs will be provided with the factories to be established in the Textile and Ready-to-Wear Organized Industrial Zone.
“Textile employment, which is about 8 thousand people, will approach 20 thousand next year”
DAKA Secretary General Halil İbrahim Güray said that they have completed the infrastructure in 42 hectares of the 110 hectares area allocated for textile investments in the OSB. Stating that 10 factories will be tendered more rapidly in the near future, Güray said: ” Van is the shining star of the textile industry. There are serious demands. Leading actors of the sector show intense interest.
On the one hand, we are completing the infrastructure works quickly. On the other hand, we are doing our best to prevent the acceleration of the sector from decreasing in order to support the interest-free loan approved by the coordination of our General Directorate of Development Agencies and to train qualified personnel that the sector needs. We are happy that companies that are corporate, exporting, have a certain production capacity and have an important market in the world prefer our region.
“Investors from both Istanbul and Aegean came to Van”
Ramazan Kaya, Chairman of the Turkish Clothing Manufacturers Association, stated that there is a serious rise in the ready-to-wear industry, especially in 2021.
Explaining that the growth in exports and the domestic market continues this year, Kaya said: “We want to make Istanbul a fashion center and Anatolia a production center. For this reason, we travel to 81 provinces. We determine the provinces where we will invest. One of these regions is Van. In the last year, serious investors came to Van from both Istanbul and the Aegean. With the new investments to be made, we will increase our production capacity and there will be a significant increase in our employment. In addition to our exports to Europe, we are increasing our exports to America. We want to create a new scale especially in American exports. In this respect, these new investments are very important. We determined that there is a very young and unemployed population in Van. We think that the ready-to-wear industry will make a positive contribution to employment for both men and women.”
“We will employ 1000 people in the firstly”
Toygar Narbay, Chairman of Narkonteks Tekstil, which will produce in the factories under construction in Van, said that all bureaucratic obstacles in front of those who want to invest in the city have been removed. Pointing out that the average age is 39 in the western provinces and 23 in Van, Narbay said, ” DAKA and the Governor’s Office have great support. After the 2000s, Turkey started to produce products with high added value. Ready-to-wear manufacturers need to create large capacities. It is not possible to do this in western provinces because they have a hard time finding staff to work. Van is one of the attractive cities in this sense. At the first stage, we will employ 1000 people in the factory we will establish in Van
