“E-Export Gained Greater Acceleration During The Pandemic Period”
Mentor Group co-partner Dr. Hakan Çınar and President of e-Export Turkey Mert Tanciğer participated as speakers at the ‘Everything Related to E-Export’ event, at which the rapidly growing volume of e-commerce across the globe were discussed.
Delivering the opening speech of the panel, Hasan Hüseyin Bayram, the Chairman of the Turkey Home Textile Industrialists and Business People Association (TETSİAD), expressed that they continued their training programs in an unremitting way in order to overcome the difficulties together arising worldwide during the troublesome pandemic outbreak period.
Indicating that the importance of digitalization and the continuation of trade in online environments, which has recently become an important trend throughout the world, has emerged once again during the troublesome pandemic period and has changed the way of doing business in our country with the whole world, Bayram declared the following statements, ‘‘In addition to the difficulties brought by the devastating pandemic outbreak period, reaching new markets newly created around the world and transforming this period into opportunities is only possible through digitalization in business life and training in this field. We aim to set new road maps in business life for our members who want to increase their share in exports by entering the markets they have not entered before, and who want to make more contribution to the industry and the economy of the country by taking advantage of the new economic order created with the pandemic period and to adapt to the new era altogether. The Covid-19 pandemic period, which is the beginning of a new era in economic and social life by upsetting the balances of the whole world, has become one of the indispensable parts of world trade. We are looking for ways to contribute more to the economy and exports of our country by learning and applying the details and advantages of e-export, e-commerce, and virtual exhibition organizations, which is one of the important trends,’’ and thanked the speakers of the panel, Mentor Group co-partner Dr. Hakan Çınar, President of e-Export Turkey Mert Tanciğer, and the participants of the program.
Dr. Hakan Çınar said that the rapidly developing e-export issue around the world has gained greater momentum during the pandemic period. Explaining that everyone who can now use the internet and is able to use credit cards can shop online, Dr. Hakan Çınar continued his statements as follows, ‘‘It seems that after a decade there will be no one who is detached from technology anymore. E-commerce has developed a lot all over the world due to technological developments. When we look at the numbers, we see that the volume of the world trade increases exponentially every ten years. This shows us that foreign trade has increased a lot in the world. While trying to achieve this in our country, it is necessary to look at the situation of home textiles. When we look at the textile environment, we see that home textiles goods produce more added value than other products. It is inevitable that this added value will increase further with branding.’’
‘‘International trade has started to shift to the E-commerce environment’’
Explaining that with the pandemic period, fiduciary currencies turned out to be more important than cash funds, Dr. Hakan Çınar stated the following on the subject, ‘‘The fiduciary currency shows a progressive growth with e-commerce. Now e-commerce has started to be the place where international trade has shifted. Our Ministry of Trade has also taken important steps during the pandemic outbreak period. E-commerce habit has settled in the whole world now. A portion of $1 of every $2 purchase realized in the world is earned from the trade between countries. This rate was around 20 percent 30 years ago, now it is around 50 percent. This shows that international trade is growing day by day. E-Export is a much easier and more feasible method than normal export. It is necessary to plan the costs correctly, to cooperate with the right partners, to be on the right platforms. In this way, the volume of the e-exports of our country will increase.’’
