The Global Standard for Intarsia Knitting with New Loop Pressers
In addition, the i-Plating® option can be combined with inlay patterns as well as sinker patterns produced with the patented spring-type moveable sinker system, opening up a whole new world of patterning for truly diverse knit design. Meanwhile a lighter, more compact carriage yields higher productivity.
N.SIR® 123SP carries over established Shima Seiki technology such as the R2CARRIAGE® System, Digital Stitch Control System (DSCS®), stitch presser, takedown comb and yarn gripper and cutter system. An all- new full –color LCD touch – screen control panel greatly improves on the previous monochromatic display as well. Proven technology, along with Made-in-Japan quality, reliability, productivity, user-friendliness and increased patterning capability all combine to satisfy the high expectations of the world’s fashion, sports, medical, shoe, home furnishing and other industries.
i-Plating® Option
i-Plating® offers inverse-plating capability in which different yarns can be shown alternately on the fabric surface for a jacquard-like effect in plain jersey stitch. This can be performed within the same course and for individual needles, for greater efficiency and expanded capability.
Loop Presser Bed
N.SIR® 123SP features a loop presser bed placed above the rear needle bed. Along with the spring-type moveable sinker and stitch presser, stable holddown of loops is achieved, allowing full control especially in producing inlay patterns. Inlay fabric is produced by inserting yarn into existing knit fabric in a weave fashion, yielding unique fabrics that are neither typically knit nor woven. Inlay also suppresses typical stretch characteriestics of knitwear, and since new yarns and materials can be used for inlay structures, new applications in addition to fashion apparel such as sports and medical as well as other industrial applications can be anticipated.

Efficient Intarsia Knitting
Equipped with 21 intersia carriers with an option for 30 total, N.SIR® 123SP allows great freedom in knitting intarsia garments, aided by tremendously capable design system software. Production leadtime can be dramatically reduced using the Automatic Intarsia Carrier Setting software featured on our SDS® -ONE APEX series 3D design system. A lint remover is also featured on the yarn gripper to keep things tidy when handling multiple yarns.
Rapid Response R2CARRIAGE® System
The R2CARRIAGE® (R2=Rapid Response) System features an advanced carriage mechanism combined with improved software programming that achieves quicker carriage returns after each course. A new lighter and more compact carriage yields even higher productivity.
DSCS®
The world’s first digital stitch device that is considered one of the most significant breakthroughs in modern-day knitting, our patented Digital Stitch Control System (DSCS®) offers consistency to within +/-1% and is critical to quality shaped knitting. With DSCS® uniform quality among different batches and repeat orders are assured. DSCS® is also the only proven digital knitting system field-tested and market-proven in the industry since 1984. No other manufacturer can claim this kind of experience or level of refinement.
Control Monitor
N.SIR® 123SP features an all- new full –color LCD touch – sensitive control panel with a larger screen that greatly improves on the previous monochromatic display. User-friendly manu-interactive function buttons permit easy input and editing as well.
