New Digital Suite for Spinners from SSM: Nema
Per Olofsson: “Did you know the meaning of Nema?” he started his presentation. Olofsson began to explain what Nema meant, without making the audience more curious at the conference: “Nema is the Greek word for thread. Besides its use in textiles, a thread is used to achieve the connection between two or more points. This connection can be physical, or logical.”
Continuing his presentation with a small story, Per Olofsson explained: “In Greek mythology, Minotaur was a creature that was impossible to tame, so it had to be locked in a maze forever. No one who entered the maze was able to come out because of its complex architecture. An Athenean hero called Theseus was able to defeat the Minotaur and come out of the maze with the help of Nema (ball of thread) which was tied at the entry of the maze.”
Olofsson explained that they chose the name, saying that Nema, Digital Suite of SSM, will also help SSM customers navigate complexity, uncover hidden issues, and find the path to manufacturing excellence.
Sustainability, which is the focus of ITMA this year, was also on the agenda of SSM. Stating that SSM products embody sustainability, Olofsson listed the advantages of its products as follows: “Reducing waste, maximizing yield, energy efficient solutions, fewer resources required.
