Creazioni Digitali: Epson’s Quality for Environmentally Sustainable Products
Creazioni Digitali, one of the largest businesses operating in the Como textile district, chooses Monna Lisa Evo Tre for the GreenDrop project and for increasingly sustainable products.
Creazioni Digitali chose to rely on the quality of Epson’s digital textile printing to pursue its ambitious project focused on eco-sustainable production processes. The Como-based company has thus introduced Monna Lisa Evo Tre 16 in its laboratories. Epson Monna Lisa Evo Tre 16 is developed in collaboration with F.lli Robustelli and is synonymous of high quality and extreme reliability for pigment printing.

Creazioni Digitali has introduced Epson Monna Lisa as part of the GreenDrop project, launched with the aim of making all phases of digital print production processes increasingly sustainable. With this project, it has been inaugurated an innovative printing process. It enables to print on fabrics consisting of various compositions of fiber mixture used in the textile industry and elsewhere. Based on the use of pigments, this technology no longer employs the classic fabric steaming and washing processes. Compared with traditional processes, it reduces water consumption to a minimum (around 1/3) and produces lower CO2 emissions. The result: economic value, versatility, waste reduced to a minimum and truly sustainable products.
“The sustainability of the textile supply chain is an increasingly crucial issue for both consumers and operators. We are very happy to have found in Epson the ideal partner for this project, which is not just a printing style but a whole new way of conceptualising the product” said Roberto Lucini, CEO at Creazioni Digitali. “We believe that this is the right time to invest in sustainable processes and in the development of innovative technological solutions that prioritise respect for the environment together with economic, social and institutional sustainability”.
Lucini concluded: “At the moment, given the innovation of the process, we are confident that, thanks to the precious help of Epson and a high-quality printer like Monna Lisa, our concept of ‘sustainable development’ is able to satisfy the needs of modern society without compromising those of the future generations”.
From fashion to home textile
At Creazioni Digitali Monna Lisa Evo Tre 16 is also used for another interesting application: the home textile. Every year approximately 50.000 meters of home textile fabrics are digitally printed with Monna Lisa mainly for sofas, kitchen linen, bedding, curtains and outdoor textile.
“Our main business remains the clothing and fashion sector, but we have decided to combine it with the home textile production because digital pigment printing also offers several advantages in this field. The first benefit: the guarantee of solidity”, explains Roberto Lucini. “The pigment, and especially Mona Lisa’s one, is the only dye to resist light in the long run, a fundamental characteristic especially for outdoor or curtain fabrics. Reactive inks or sublimation are subject to significant degradation after only six months. With pigment, on the other hand, light resistance is guaranteed over the years. Thanks to Epson we are also testing every type of material, from the most classic to the most innovative, and we are so satisfied with the experience that we will introduce another Mona Lisa by the end of the year”.
Monna Lisa Evo Tre 16 with pigments: excellence with reduced environmental impact
Characterized by the innovative proprietary Epson PrecisionCore printing technology Monna Lisa Evo Tre 16 is a highly versatile industrial digital printer thanks also to the use of different inks depending on fabrics and markets in which it is used.
Quality, unparalleled flexibility and total reliability of this printer make it unique and enable it to meet the most diverse production requirements.
Furthermore, for Epson the issue of eco-sustainability has fundamental importance and that’s the reason why it has created its Total Solution. The Total Solution is part of continuous research for minimum environmental impact through practices such as eco-design and chemical certifications. In particular, the entire range of Genesta inks, developed by Epson in partnership with FOR.TEX, not only offer quality, precise and colour-resistant printing on all types of fabrics, but they are also approved by OEKO-TEX® with ECO PASSPORT certification.
