The 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025), hosted by the Ministry of National Defense and organized by KFA Fair Organization Inc. at the Istanbul Expo Center, has ended.
In addition to Turkiye’s leading defense industry companies, the fair also featured Turkish entrepreneurs engaged in high-value-added production. Nunatak Teknik Tekstil ve Dış Ticaret A.Ş., founded by Turkish female entrepreneur Fatma Şahin İşler and producing high-value-added technical textile products and military equipment, also stood out.
Offers a Wide Range of Products, From Sleeping Bags to Waterproof Clothing
Founded in 1994 by Fatma Şahin İşler to produce sleeping bags, Nunatak expanded its product range and began producing different products. İşler, which shifted its production range to technical textiles and military equipment approximately 10 years ago, carried out intensive R&D studies with its expert team in the field with the vision of domestic and national production.
The company, which began manufacturing products for various weather conditions, from the hottest to the coldest regions of the world, continued its work on equipment necessary for the survival of those who are away from their homes for long periods, are on the front lines, participate in search and rescue operations, or are camping.
The company, which has a wide range of production from sleeping bags to cold climate clothing, from tactical clothing to waterproof and breathable clothing and military uniforms, has recently produced a knife-resistant and fire-resistant tactical suit.
Nunatak, which has received orders from numerous institutions and organizations in Türkiye, especially the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and AFAD, produces for the armies of approximately 15 countries, from Germany to Russia.
“We Produce Cooler Clothing for Qatar and Cold-Protective Clothing for Norway”
Fatma Şahin İşler, Founder of Nunatak Teknik Tekstil ve Dış Ticaret A.Ş. stated that they took a significant step 10 years ago by transferring their 30-year experience in textile production to the military field. İşler, noting that they have developed numerous products, said, “We conduct R&D, and our motivation for developing products is truly our own army and soldiers. We strive to ensure that our own soldiers use the best, but we also provide foreigners with the products we develop for our own army.”
İşler explained that they produce cooler clothing for Qatar and cold protection clothing for Norway and Sweden, and that they aim to offer all climate solutions.
“We Produce High-Tech Products”
Fatma Şahin İşler stated that they make many military uniforms and that they produce the uniforms of many different units, and continued: “In addition to these uniforms, we manufacture thermal underwear, tents, sleeping bags, cold-weather clothing, bedchair, bunk beds, and a host of other earthquake-related products. We also work on search and rescue supplies and equipment, but our primary focus is producing high-tech products. We make durable, durable clothing and apparel that maximizes soldiers’ comfort in the field, reduces their needs, and allows them to focus on combat.”
“There is Demand from Abroad for the Tactical Suit, the First of Its Kind in Turkiye”
Fatma Şahin İşler stated that they exhibited the tactical suit they produced as a result of their R&D studies for the first time at this fair and gave the following information: “A first in Turkiye, I don’t know if it’s available anywhere else in the world. This is a suit that gives you a more civilian look but also has all the tactical features you need. You can’t realize from the outside, but the fabric is fireproof and has a middle layer that is resistant to knife attacks. You can attach your magazines to the jacket. It has a specially designed mold to hide the gun when you wear it. There’s a magazine compartment inside. There’s a Faraday cage on both sides of the jacket. For example, if you’re going to a meeting or have a private conversation, you can completely block the signal by placing your cell phone in the area during that conversation. It also helps create a safe zone for yourself. In the event of an explosion or fire, we use a special fabric to protect you from the flames and fire until you get to a safe area.”
İşler noted that they have received all production and quality certifications for the tactical suit and will begin mass production soon, adding, “There is significant demand abroad, especially from those in managerial positions.”
