(From Left to Right) Felipe Gonçalves de Menezes, Lourival Santos Flor and Caio P. De Marchi Gaioski
Lourival Santos Flor, one of the Co-Founder of the company, which foresees a growth rate of 30% for 2022, said, “The Turkish market is very important for us. We are excited to start operating here.”
The managers of Golden Technology company were among the visitors of the ITM 2022 International Textile Machinery Exhibition, which was held between 14-18 June and hosted textile technology leaders from all over the world. We interviewed with Lourival Santos Flor, the company’s co-founder, Felipe Gonçalves de Menezes, International Director of company and Caio P. De Marchi Gaioski, Turkey General Manager for our Tekstil Teknoloji magazine.
Can we listen from you about the establishment story of Golden Technology?
Lourival Santos Flor: I am one of the co-founder of the company. Our company was founded 35 years ago state of São Paulo in Brazil. We started with the production of chemical auxiliaries for textile industry, and then we expanded the portfolio of products to the all textile segment, from the preparation, dyeing, special finishing until printing. We are present in more than 20 countries in North, Central and Latin America, Europe, Asia and North Africa. 20 years ago, we started to cooperate with universities in Japan and Europe. We have the Innovation Research Center, where we sought to develop new technologies, offering our customers a high quality technical support, based on international standards. We entered the Turkish market 2 years ago. Because Turkey; It is an important market for us with its market size and fabric and other product quality. We are excited and enthusiastic to start business by establishing a facility in Turkey.
Can you talk about your product portfolio and the features that distinguish your products from your competitors?
Felipe Gonçalves de Menezes: As a company, we have a wide range of products such as finishing, optical brighteners, dyestuffs, printing, pretreatment, textile effects, dyeing and dye clean products. We are quite strong in sustainable processes and we are very committed to the environment. We focus on innovations that use less water in all textile processes, from preparation to finishing, while also requiring less application time and consuming less energy at a competitive cost.
Another important issue lately is textile effects. We offer high quality products and technology for the textile industry. We create a variety of textile effects that help improve fabrics and work hard with universities for new technologies.
Can you talk about the major functional improvements you recently made, and how this will benefit the textile industry?
Caio P. De Marchi Gaioski: In many countries, including Turkey, water and energy saving are among the most important issues. While other companies focus on only one benefit, we as Golden Technology; We focus on many issues from process inputs to reducing water and energy use. As Golden Technology; We developed and patented the Dye Clean® process, which reuses the dyebath of fabrics. Our patented Dye Clean® process; It is the process of dyeing cellulosic fibers with reactive dyes. It ensures that the water in the dyeing baths is used repeatedly. It significantly reduces salt and chemical inputs without impairing quality. It saves energy. When we developed this process 10 years ago, nobody had any idea about environmental protection. This is an important innovation in terms of our vision for the future.
Lourival Santos Flor: On the other hand, it is worth remembering that recycling is also very important. Instead of focusing on using less water or chemicals, you can focus on recycling what you have. That’s exactly what the Dye Clean process is for. It reuses the bath water of the fabrics over and over again. In addition, as a company, we always continue our technical support to our customers thanks to our experienced team in Brazil. Together with our Innovation Research Center, we provide trainings on textile processes and organize courses for both our customers and technical personnel at universities.
Could you tell us about your export markets and the countries you export to the most? Could you tell us the importance of the Turkish market especially for your company?
Felipe Gonçalves de Menezes: We export to more than 20 countries including North, Central, Latin America, Europe, Asia and North Africa. We have two different export models for Golden Technology. One of them is our export from Brazil, where our first factory is established, to other countries. The other is the export model in the example of Turkey. We first tested the market by exporting some products to Turkey, then we decided to establish a factory here. Two years ago, right in the middle of the pandemic, we established a factory in Turkey and started production. In a very short time, we have risen to a competitive position in the Turkish market. We also have a productive unit in Central America and Europe. We also have factories in Mexico and Peru. It is very important for us to be here, as Turkey is in an important position in terms of both its geopolitical location and logistics. For example, we started doing business with Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka wants to buy products from Turkey. For this reason, it is a great opportunity for us to have a center in Turkey and to produce here and ship it to other countries.
You were among the visitors of the ITM 2022, which brought together the textile technology leaders after 3 years? Can we hear your opinions about the exhibition?
Lourival Santos Flor: It was a great surprise for us to encounter an intense influx of visitors from the first day of the ITM 2022 Exhibition. Also, Turks are very friendly. In this respect, it would not be wrong to say that Turks and Brazilians are very similar to each other.
Another issue that caught our attention at the ITM 2022 Exhibition was that many Turkish manufacturers exhibited the machines they developed themselves. This was really interesting. Because there is still no machinery manufacturer in Brazil. ITM 2022 was a very well organized exhibition. We had meetings with many companies. Congratulations to the whole team for signing such an organization.
