Korteks Invested 177.8 Million TL in R&D in 2024
Korteks, an innovative polyester yarn manufacturer and a member of the Zorlu Textile Group, invested 177.8 million TL in R&D last year. The majority of the projects carried out at the company’s R&D Center in 2024 are focused on biodegradable and recyclable materials, automotive textiles and high-performance technical yarns.
Korteks, which offers qualified yarn products to a wide range of sectors from home textiles to the automotive industry, from the defense industry to the healthcare industry, in its Bursa facilities that utilize advanced technology and innovation, continues to work for a better future with the motto “Today for the Future” by adopting a sustainability-focused production approach. Within this framework, Korteks published its 2024 Sustainability Report in accordance with the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), where it shares its sustainability approach and activities, prepared under the main headings of environmental, social and governance.
Korteks General Manager Barış Mert stated that they reshaped their business model in line with the Zorlu Group’s “Smart Life 2030” strategy, aiming to create not only economic but also environmental and social benefits. He said, “As Korteks, we are further strengthening our leading role in the sector with our innovative, sustainability-focused vision. We are transforming our expertise in technical textiles and circular production into a strategic advantage. With this understanding, we continued to reflect our sustainability approach in all our business practices, from our products and processes to our investments and stakeholder communication, in 2024.”
“We Met 70% of Our Energy Consumption from Green Sources”
Barış Mert stated that they continue to reap the rewards of the concrete steps they have taken for the green transformation, saying, “We are steadily reducing carbon emissions and intensity through energy and resource efficiency projects. By reducing our carbon emission intensity to 0.07 tons of CO2/ton of production in 2024, we have moved closer to our 2030 Net Zero target. We meet all of our electricity consumption from renewable sources, with 70% of our total energy consumption coming from green sources. We have successfully completed the ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification process. We have implemented various improvements in energy, water, and waste management to make our production processes more efficient and environmentally responsible.”

Placing sustainability at its core, Korteks continues to create added value through technical textiles and circular production. It reinforces its leadership in the sector with products such as TAÇ REBORN®, produced by recycling polyester yarns; Dope-Dyed technology, which offers an environmentally friendly dyeing process by reducing water and chemical use; and TAÇ BIOLOOP®, which contains biodegradable additives that aim to reduce microplastic pollution in the ecosystem. Additionally, its Polymer Recycling Facility, which produces RPET chips, contributes to the circular economy by producing recycled yarns from production waste. Korteks redefined its TAÇ REBORN® product with different color and gloss options in 2024, and launched its biodegradable TAÇ BIOLOOP® product into industrial production in 2024.
