Sedo Treepoint, a developer and supplier of integrated systems for the textile dyeing and finishing industry, celebrated its 46th anniversary last August. In 2024, the company demonstrated its resilience and innovative strength by continuing its successful internationalisation strategy despite global economic fluctuations. Sedo Treepoint, which opened the doors of growth opportunity by launching the Sedomat 6010 controller in mid-2024, will continue to develop its solutions to help customers meet the demands of efficiency, profitability and sustainability in 2025. We interviewed Andreas Hannes, Head of Administration and Marketing at Sedo Treepoint, for the special issue of ‘German Textile Machinery Industry’. Hannes evaluated the year 2024 and talked about his expectations for 2025 and new product studies focused on digitalisation, artificial intelligence and automation.
How did Sedo Treepoint navigate global economic fluctuations and sector developments in 2024? What strategic enhancements have you made to your product or service portfolio to drive growth and innovation?
Sedo Treepoint has successfully navigated global economic challenges by continuously improving the quality of its hardware products, driving significant progress. A key milestone was the expansion of our product portfolio with the launch of the Sedomat 6010 control series, which has received highly positive market feedback. Additionally, the introduction of innovative solutions such as SedoExpert and TMS has unlocked new growth opportunities, particularly in markets like Turkiye and India.
Since joining the Vandewiele Group, we have further strengthened our position by leveraging its extensive network of partners and affiliated companies, enhancing both our market reach and capabilities.
“There is an Increasing Demand in the Market for the Sedomat 6010 Control Series”
Last year, you introduced the Sedomat 6010 Series at ITM 2024? How was the product received in the market? What kind of feedback do you receive from customers? What are the advantages of the Sedomat 6010 series for customers?
Since ITM serves as a key hub for us, launching the Sedomat 6010 there was a natural choice. So far, we have seen growing demand in markets where customers prioritize a fast ROI, leading to a steady increase in installations. I believe the Sedomat 6010 will be a key product in the coming months – not only for customers in countries with fast growing economies but also for those who appreciate a cost-effective solution with outstanding usability.
What were the biggest challenges in digitalization and automation of textile dyeing and finishing processes and how did you overcome these challenges?
In my opinion, customers today are adopting new technologies more easily than in the past, as they recognize the need to stay aligned with industry trends. However, many still operate a mix of older machines, diverse control systems and varying standards requiring tailored integration solutions. This can be achieved through methods such as adding communication protocols like OPC UA, implementing retrofits and other integration strategies.
Working closely with a customers’ team, we develop a structured rollout plan to implement these technologies effectively while also enhancing sustainability in dyeing production. Additionally, training and comprehensive reporting play a crucial role in providing valuable insights and optimizing operations.
What special adaptations do you make to your products to meet the increasing digitalization and sustainability demands of textile machinery manufacturers and end users?
Sedo Treepoint has strategically enhanced its products to meet the growing demands for digitalization and sustainability in the textile machinery industry, especially by focusing on simplifying implementations. Our range of Sedomat controllers is designed to make Smart Factory solutions accessible to every customer. Equipped with multiple interfaces such as
OPC-UA and MQTT, these controllers enable seamless data exchange and serve as an effective upgrade – now with an even lower barrier to entry.
Our new solutions like the web-based ColorMasterConnect are designed for easy installation and maintenance, with updates completed in minimal time. Through these targeted advancements, we empower textile machinery manufacturers and end users to successfully navigate the challenges of digital transformation, profitability, and sustainability.
Can you give concrete examples of how your technologies provide production efficiency and energy savings?
Sedo Treepoint’s technologies enhance production efficiency and energy savings through smart automation and real-time optimization. For example, SedoMaster minimizes downtime with real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance, while EnergyMaster reduces energy costs by up to 20% by optimizing electricity, steam, gas and water usage. SedoExpert streamlines production by synchronizing dyeing, finishing and washing processes – and ColorMaster dynamically adjusts parameters to improve performance and resource efficiency. Seamless machine connectivity further enhances workflow and operational efficiency.
Through these innovations, we help textile manufacturers increase productivity, reduce costs, and achieve more sustainable production.
What do you think will be the biggest trends and developments in the textile machinery sector in the near future? How are these trends expected to affect Sedo Treepoint’s product portfolio?
Many people around the globe expect in the coming years that the textile machinery sector will be driven by the great global trends for sustainability and AI-driven optimization. In our opinion the biggest impact will be competitiveness, cost-efficiency and accessibility for automation and digitalization. By leveraging automation and data-driven decision-making, companies can gain a competitive edge and drive sustainable growth.
For customers these trends create exciting opportunities with Sedo Treepoint even in aspects of sustainability, profitability and digitalization. As a leader in textile automation, we continuously enhance our smart software solutions, integrating AI and IoT for intelligent decision-making.
What kind of customer-focused approach does Sedo Treepoint have in period when customer demands for dyeing and finishing machines are becoming increasingly specialized? How do you at Sedo Treepoint collect customer feedback and integrate it into your product development processes?
