Standing out with its innovative technologies, Polytropon attracted attention at the exhibiton with its digital solutions and AI-supported production systems. In an exclusive interview with Serdar Önal, Fashion Solutions Sales Consultant at Polytropon, we discussed the company’s strategies for the exhibition, current industry developments, and future projections.
“We Produce More with Less Thanks to AI”
Serdar Önal shared insights about the innovative products showcased at the event. Highlighting that companies are turning to efficiency to survive amidst economic difficulties, Önal stated that their AI-powered solutions are making a significant contribution to the industry. “In this period of economic challenges, we are focusing on products related to efficiency. Our customers have shown great interest and engagement in this area,” said Önal, noting that they participated in the exhibition with many new products.
AI-Supported Production: Fabric Savings and High Efficiency
Speaking about the role of AI and automation systems in the industry, Serdar Önal emphasized their extensive use of these technologies, especially in automatic marker placement systems. “We are going through a tough economic period. That’s why we’re using AI actively in our automatic marker placement systems. This enables our customers to produce more efficiently using less fabric,” he explained.
“The Exhibition Revitalizes the Sector”
Önal also addressed the challenges faced by the ready-to-wear industry, stating that the Garment Tech Istanbul Exhibition injects new energy into the sector: “Efficiency had somewhat lost its significance in recent years, but in this tough crisis period, it has come back into focus. By offering cost-reducing products, we’re helping companies become more resilient.”
“Rise in Foreign Participation”
Pointing out Istanbul’s strategic importance as a exhibition destination, Önal noted the increase in foreign participation this year: “We’re seeing more international participants than local ones this year. Factors such as the exhibition’s location in Yeşilköy and nearby accommodation options are boosting foreign interest.”
Önal also highlighted the potential for establishing new partnerships at the exhibition and suggested that, in the long run, sectoral mergers and collaborative projects based on data sharing could become a reality.
Discussing the future of the ready-to-wear sector, Önal expressed his belief that companies with high added value and strong design capabilities will stand out: “Innovative firms that add flair to their products and create added value are the ones that will survive. The textile industry won’t disappear in Turkiye, because we have significant expertise in this field.”
“We Remain Hopeful Despite Economic Challenges”
Evaluating the first half of 2025, Serdar Önal said that, as a digital transformation company, they have been relatively less affected by the sector’s fluctuations: “Of course, we feel the impact of the poor economy, but we haven’t lost much. We’ll work harder and be more successful. We’re hopeful and moving forward.”
