Textile Factories in Van Opened Their Doors to Earthquake Victims
The campaign, which was organized to employ the earthquake victims brought to Van from the surrounding provinces in textile factories, was supported by the representatives of the textile factories in Van. Thereupon, about 20 earthquake survivors were placed in factories in the city.
Speaking to the AA reporter, Van TSO Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors Fevzi Çeliktaş stated that as a province that experienced an earthquake in 2011, they provided heating, food, and clothing aid from the first moment of the earthquake.
Çeliktaş underlined that all necessary means were mobilized to heal the wounds of earthquake victims; “We had a major disaster where work on the wreckage is still ongoing. We lost thousands of our people. But we were somewhat happy with the lives saved. In order to raise awareness and help people, we met with our chairman of the board of directors, our management, and representatives of textile factories and started a campaign for the employment of earthquake victims in the city. We established a support office in Van. We direct our citizens who come to our city and want to work to these factories,” he said.
Çeliktaş stated that approximately 20 employments have been provided so far and the applications continue; “We thank the factory owners for their support. We will continue this work. Our factory owners provided employment and sent aid to the earthquake region during this process. They took on responsibility and we congratulate them all. Reşit Yaren, member of the Board of Directors of Van TSO and representative of the textile sector, said that the textile factories in the city put forward an important work in raising awareness.
Yaren: “Together with our board of directors, we take all necessary steps to employ earthquake victims and try to help .Search efforts continue. For this reason, people did not exactly leave the regions they were in. We believe this number will increase. All of our investors viewed it positively. We will do whatever we can to employ the earthquake survivors who apply,” he ended his speech.
