The Textile Exports of Turkey Increased 20 Percent in February
Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association announced the February export figures. According to the report, in February 2021, Turkey’s overall exports rose 9.6 percent and amounted to 16 billion US Dollars.
The Most Important Export Market; Germany
In the January-February period of 2021, the largest volume of exports of textiles and raw materials were made to the EU (27) countries, with an increase of 23.7 percent compared to the January-February period of 2020, amounting to 910 million US dollars. January-February period of 2021, considering the leading countries in the Turkish exports of textile and raw materials, it is observed that Germany is the most important export market. Exports of textiles and raw materials to Germany in the January – February period of 2021 increased by 29.4 percent and reached a value of 178 million US dollars. In this period, Italy was the second country that imported the most textiles and raw materials from Turkey. Turkish exports of textiles and raw materials to Italy increased by 17.3 percent in the January – February period and amounted to 164 million US dollars. Italy was followed by the USA, England, and Bulgaria, respectively.
The Most Exported Merchandise; Technical Textiles
Examining the export of the textiles and raw materials industry of Turkey in the January-February period of 2021 with respect to the product groups, it is observed that the most important product group is technical textiles with an increase of 47.5 percent achieving an export value of 438 million US dollars.
Referring to Turkey’s technical textile exports from January to February period, it is observed that the non-woven fabric products group consists of 29 percent of total exports. During this period, nonwoven fabric exports of Turkey increased by 29 percent and amounted to 127 million US Dollars.
The second most important product group within the technical textile exports was ready-to-wear products produced from technical textile materials with a share of 21.9 percent from total textile exports. The exports of the relevant product group increased by 1013.8 percent in the January-February period and reached approximately 96 million US dollars in value.
Yarn exports, which is the second product group with the highest export volume with a share of 20.1 percent, increased by 27.3 percent in the January – February period and reached 383 million US dollars. In February, yarn exports increased by 31.7 percent and reached a value of approximately 193 million US dollars. In February, home textile exports of about 165 million were carried out, with an increase of 14.9 percent.
Knitted Fabric Exports Increased By 31 Percent
Analyzing the knitted fabric exports, it is observed that exports increased by 31 percent achieving 330 million US dollars in the January – February period and that the export of the knitted fabric industry increased by 35.5 percent in February, reaching a value of approximately 172 million US dollars.
In the January – February period, woven fabric exports decreased by 18.5 percent achieving 309 million US dollars, while fiber exports increased by 26 percent achieving 144 million US dollars and apparel sub-industry exports increased by 13.7 percent achieving 88 million US dollars.
Looking at the yarn exports with respect to the sub-product groups in the January – February period of 2021, it is observed that the most important sub-product group is yarns produced from synthetic-man-made filament fibers with an export value of 71 million US dollars. The share of the mentioned product group in the total yarn export is 36.2 percent.
Considering the knitted fabric exports with respect to the sub-product groups in the January – February period of 2021, it is seen that the most important sub-product group is other knitted fabrics with an export value of approximately 177 million US dollars. The share of other knitted fabric product groups in total knitted fabric exports is 53.6 percent.
