Turkey’s, The Last 13 Months of Exports Record Are Broken
Turkey Exporters Assembly (TIM) Chairman İsmail Gülle, has announced its 2018 export data for the month of September. According to this data, exports in the first nine months increased by 7 percent to $ 123 billion 110 million. Turkey’s exports in the last 12 months rose 7.6 percent to 165 billion 56 million dollars. Exports, which were 8.5 million tons in September of the previous year, increased by 30 percent to 11.2 million tons in the same period of this year. This September was the second month reached of the largest amount of exports so far on quantity basis.

TOP EXPORTS TO GERMANY
In September, exports to 172 countries and regions increased, while Germany was the first country with 1.4 billion dollars. Germany was followed by United Kingdom with $ 1.1 billion, Italy with 825 million dollars and Iraq with $ 722 million. Compared to the previous year, exports to the EU increased by 24.7 percent to $ 7.3 billion. While the share of the EU was 51 percent, exports to the Far East increased by 100 percent.
TEXTILE SECTOR CONTRIBUTED GREATLY TO EXPORTS
September textile exports increased by 7.2% to $ 883 million. In September 2018, exports of textiles and raw materials increased by 14.0% compared to the previous month (August 2018). In September this year, most of the textile and raw materials exports were made to the EU (28) countries. Exports to EU countries increased by 4.1% in September to $ 459 million. In January-September 2018, exports to EU countries were recorded as 4 billion dollars. In September, the second country group that exported the most total textiles and raw materials was the Middle East countries. Exports to this region fell by 17.5% in September to $ 768 million. The highest increase in the textile and raw materials exports was to the other European countries with a 27.1% increase.
OUR MOST IMPORTANT EXPORT MARKET IS ITALY
2018 January-September period, when Turkey’s textile and raw material exports were evaluated in the leading countries, it was the most important export market is Italy. Exports of textiles and raw materials to Italy were recorded as 672 million dollars in January – September period with an increase of 1.6%.
WOVEN FABRIC WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT PRODUCT GROUP IN EXPORT
In the January – September period of 2018, the most important product group was woven fabric when the textiles and raw materials export were analyzed. Exports of woven fabrics, which accounted for 24.1% of the textile and raw materials’ exports, increased by 5.5% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to approximately $ 1.9 billion. Exports of woven fabrics increased by 5.4% in September 2018 to about 215 million dollars.In the January – September period of 2018, the second most important product group in the textile and raw materials exports was the yarn group, which accounted for 18.2% of the textile sector’s exports. Yarn exports amounted to $ 1.4 billion in January-September 2018. In September, the export value of yarn exports increased by 13.4 percent to $ 169 million.
