Turkiye is One of the World’s Most Important Textile Markets
Interview: Tuğba KARADEMİR
SSM is rapidly moving towards becoming the pioneer of digitalization and sustainability in the textile industry. It shapes the future of the industry with its innovative technologies and environmentally friendly production processes, and stands out with its efficiency and savings-oriented solutions.
In the transformation process of textile industry, digitalization and sustainability have become one of the most critical concepts. SSM, one of the leading companies in this field, draws attention with its technological innovations in the sector. While making production processes more efficient with the Thread King III machine it has developed, it also adopts an eco-friendly approach by offering environmentally friendly solutions. In order to examine SSM’s vision in this field, the technological advantages they offer and their contributions to the sector more closely, SSM Managing Director Roman Haefeli made important explanations for our Tekstil Teknoloji magazine:
What key benefits have the products you launched in recent years provided to users? How have you received feedback from customers regarding these products?
SSM’s latest sewing thread finish winder, the Thread King III, sets new standards in the industry. It holds the record for the shortest doffing cycle thanks to its patented tuck-in system. The Thread King III also benefits from an outstanding length measuring accuracy. This ultra-precise capability results in 50% reduction of the safety margin on wound packages, thereby saving one percent raw material. The new machine is also equipped with SSM’s groundbreaking innovation: preciforce, the world’s first system to constantly regulate the backpressure force. preciforce is the first and only online regulated backpressure system, achieving regular density across the entire package. The perfectly homogeneous package densities make the dyeing process easier, thus optimizing results. Even better, dye houses save energy and water as they no longer need to repeat the dyeing process which is necessary when a package is wound with different densities.
“The textile industry is undergoing a major transformation through the adoption of digitization.”
What are the most common requests and expectations from your customers, particularly regarding winding machines? What new technologies or features are you planning to develop to meet these demands?
The textile industry is undergoing a major transformation through the adoption of digitization. Customers are striving for higher levels of automation and smart technologies with real-time monitoring of key performance indicators. Nema, SSM digital suite, supports customers by allowing a near real-time monitoring of all connected machines, 24 hours a day, regardless of machine location. Customers can follow the efficiency of each machine and each position, and easily identify gaps and improvements.
What innovative products or solutions are you planning to launch in the near future? How are these new products expected to contribute to the sector, and how will they improve the user experience?
With the increasing demand for man-made fibers, SSM’s focus is on process machines (air textured yarn/draw textured yarn). The shortage of skilled workers is real and it is global. SSM is committed to support customers with more automation technology and process stability and further develop its digital solution Nema. This is where the future of winding lies: in smarter autonomous machines.
What are your plans for future investments or collaborations? How important is the Turkish market for your company, and what are your plans regarding this market?
Turkiye is one of the world’s most important textile markets. We are fully committed to helping the country’s attractive textile industry consolidate its strong position with the support of state-of-the-art winding technology and expertise from SSM.
