2022 Will Be the Year of Investment for Mesdan
We talked to Mesdan Sales Manager Claudio Bertolotti about the evaluation of 2021, their expectations for 2022 and the latest products they have developed. Stating that 2021 sales exceeded the sales in the pre-Covid period, Bertolotti said that they will make investments for the renewal of manufacturing machines in 2022.
Claudio Bertolotti said, “2021 has been a very important year for Mesdan,” and continued as follows.
“Right at the beginning of January, the unexpected news about the acquisition of the complete Savio Group (to which Mesdan belongs to) by VandeWiele were published. Acquisition was effectively operative starting from April only, and immediately the new owners expressed their approach and philosophy about the importance of the R&D activities, technology and innovation, which were very much appreciated by all of us. Beside that, 2021 has represented the year of the textile industry recover, after more than 12 months of hard market slow done, which started already in the 4th quarter of 2019, well before Covid strongly affected our lives. In fact, our sales of 2021 exceed the pre-Covid 2019 sales. Business is being very good, particularly concentrated in few big areas, among which Turkey can be for sure identified as one of the most active, together with China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt and North America.”
A Miniature Spinning Line from Mesdan for the Recycling of Textiles
Sustainability, recycling, respect for the environment… Stating that these are the important focus of R&D activities, Bertolotti said, “In particular for the recycling of textiles (old cloths or fabric and yarn residuals) Mesdan is proposing a miniature spinning line, which can be used for giving textiles a second life or for recuperating expensive materials like carbon fibres. After being shredded and reduced to the fibre form back again, the line can produce yarns again, and it has already met the strong interest of many universities or R&D institutes worldwide.”
Continuing its R&D activities during the pandemic process, Mesdan company introduced two new tensile strength tester products to the market: AUTOFIL (24-position, fully automatic, extremely fast yarn strength tester) and AUTODYN 3 (1-position automatic yarn strength tester, also suitable for fibre, hanks and fabric testing in the semi-automatic test method). “Those 2 new devices complete the already wide range of tensile strength testers available in our lab catalogue.” Bertolotti said.
Stating that the laboratory division is also still working to improve and complete the cotton fibre testing line, Bertolotti said: “More new equipment are going to be presented at the next year ITMA 2023; the yarn joining division is as always working in close touch with the Savio technical department for the development and innovation of new automatic splicers for their winding machines. Looking at the internal production site, many investments will be done during the year for the renovation of manufacturing machines and the reorganization of processes.”
“ITM 2022 Will Be the Most Important Exhibition to Be Held After A Long Break”
Reminding that ITM 2018 was very successful for Mesdan, Claudio Bertolotti said, “
ITM 2018 was very successful for Mesdan, in particular thanks to the customers’ wider provenience area; in fact we received many customers from all the Middle East and the Mediterranean area, like from Egypt to Iran. So we hope that the pandemic situation will not stop all those potential customers to travel to Istanbul, because the business situation is good in all the area hence business potentials are promising also for the 2022. In particular, in the first months of 2022 the Turkish market seems to be confirming the same excellent trend as 2021.”
Bertolotti expressed his views on the ITM 2022 as follows: “First of all, it will already be a great success to see that ITM 2022 is held! it will be one of the most important exhibition after long break, due to the Covid restrictions. We have not decided whether any of our equipment will be physically exhibited during the show, but for sure the focus of our presentation will be on the 2 main news of our laboratory division: CONTEST-F the automatic high volume cotton fibre testing equipment, and the complete line of our tensile strength testers.”
