New Production Facility of Kıray Makina Operational in December
Kıray Makina, which increased its production capacity by moving to its new production facility in January 2020 and brought completely domestic new products to Turkey by developing successful R&D studies, commissioned its new production facility in December 2021.
As a solution partner for textile machinery manufacturers and end-users, Kıray Makina produces wet section machines such as tubular slitting machine and tubular squeezing machine for post dyeing operations. In addition, it produces many auxiliary units for all other finishing machines from stenter and sanforizing machines. These include edge cutting unit, fabric centering unit, humidification unit, top side gum unit, enzyme washing unit, cutting unit with basket and fabric centering sensor.
We interviewed with Samet Kıray, Chairman of the Board, for the special issue of “Turkish Textile Machinery Industry”. Kıray shared with us his assessment of 2021 and plans and targets for 2022.
Stating that as Kıray Makina, they spent the year 2021 extremely productive in terms of manufacturing, Samet Kıray expressed the following statements, ‘‘The panic atmosphere in the market in March-June period, when the epidemic first started in 2020, dissipated. We expanded our manufacturing lines in line with the increasing orders. We put our new production facility into operation in December 2021. By separating machining and assembly, we are working to elevate our production to perfection, which already is high-quality, with our new machinery investments in a total area of 12000 m2, 8000 m2 of which is closed.’’
‘‘We Will Launch a New Product This Year’’
Kıray provided information about the innovations they have made in their machines and indicated the following, ‘‘Features such as quality production, following innovations, Industry 4.0 are indispensable elements for the self-development of companies producing technological products. Producers who cannot follow them are doomed to disappear over time. As Kıray Makina, innovation is an indispensable part of us. Of course, we have new machines. We are launching a product this year that we could not concentrate on its production, due to space unavailability. We also have projects that are in the design process. When it is completed, we will promote it at exhibitions and on our website.’’
‘‘The share of exports in total sales was 50% in 2021’’
Kıray Makina manufactures products for both machine companies and end-users. For this reason, there is Kıray Makina in every country where Turkish companies sell products. Samet Kıray provided the following information about the countries they export to: ‘‘We increased our concentration especially in the Italy, Germany, Uzbekistan, Egypt, India and Bangladesh markets. The satisfaction of the end-users in the Turkish market is also a source of pride. We see that we are on the right track, and we are moving forward with firm steps. Our share in exports in total sales was 50% in 2021. This level is not a sufficient rate for Kıray Makina. Our problem was that we could not keep up with the incoming orders. We foresee that with the expansion of our production area, we will be able to handle this to some extent.’’
‘‘In 2022, We Want to Increase Our Export Share Without Compromising Quality’’
Kıray underlined that their first goal for 2022 is to preserve their existing strength and explained that they desired to increase their export rates without sacrificing quality. Samet Kıray continued as follows, ‘‘As a company, our priority has never been production and sales in large numbers. Our priority has been to embark a quality and reliable name in the market. The environment that is created when you do not compromise on quality already forces companies to grow. We invent our own machines to make machines. We are a company that uses these machines, whose design, software and production belong to our company, in our own production. In addition, we purchased welding robots, laser sheet metal cutting, laser pipe cutting, press brakes, lathes and merged them to production lines in our new facility. Our ERP system is about to be completed, and then we are going to start negotiations for an automatic warehouse system. Expanding our R&D team, accelerating the design process, reviewing our already low energy and water consumption products, and making them even more economical are among our goals this year.’’
Emphasizing that ITM 2022 will be the most important exhibition of the world that will bring together textile machinery manufacturers after a long break, Samet Kıray finalized his statements as follows, ‘‘We will exhibit our existing machines and units at the ITM 2022 Exhibition. If we have the opportunity to complete the design and technical tests in the field, our new product will also be promoted.’’
