3 Breakthrough Technologies in Yarn Winding Machines from SSM
The inventor of the electronic yarn winding system, based in Switzerland, SSM continues its tradition of trend setting with the introduction of innovative technologies to help its customers achieve their goals.
SSM Textil Machinery, based in Horgen, Switzerland, is a subsidiary of the Rieter Group. Schärer, Schweiter and Mettler, who are known for their commitment to textile machinery and yarn manufacturing facilities in their 300-year tradition, established SSM in 1989.
SMM is the world’s leading supplier of precision winding machines in the fields of dyeing, weaving and sewing thread preparation and enjoys success in individual segments of filament yarn production.
During the ITMA 2019, we interviewed with SSM CEO Davide Maccabruni. Maccabruni, who share his opinions on the market of Turkey, and the developments in the spinning sector; “Turkey is an indispensable market for us.” he said.
SSM launched its new products in ITMA 2019. Can we listen to these products from you?
SSM continue their tradition of displaying breakthrough Technologies such as Preciforce (self-regulating pressure force system for the SSM XENO platform) and powerblade. We want to show once again capability of being top in innovation. We showed ITMA 2019 3 new technologies; the preciforce techonolgy, the power blade technology, and the the winding and yarn process machines, such as DP5-T. Large interest was generated by the powerblade winder and the SSM preciforce which had their world premieres.
In Preciforce, SSM presented a system for optimizing the bobbin build-up on precision winding machines. We also revealed another yarn innovation: fancyflex is a technology for manufacturing slub yarn for textured yarns.
The SSM XENO series are the modular winding machine platform, available with all three leading SSM winding technologies- extended with the powerblade, combining the advantages of blade winding and electronic yarn traverse.
Furthermore, SSM combined the advantages of blade winding and electronic yarn traverse into powerblade: exclusively available on XENO-PB. With the SSM XENO machines, producers got the right tool in their hand for a perfect winding result and maximum productivity.
Did ITMA 2019 meet your expectations?
In the last 3 years, the situation in the market is not very good and there is a big recession. Our expectations from this exhibition are that this trend will change. Exhibition was very efficient. We had very productive meetings with customers and negotiated. We believe that we will contribute to the companies that attach importance to innovation with 3 new technologies we have developed. I can say that our negotiations proceeded in parallel with our expectations from the exhibition.
How does SSM strive to deliver reliable and new machines?
This is on our core competences. SSM has a right on the three main dimensions of our business, that’s innovation, quality and service. With the solutions we exhibited at this fair, our visitors have met to many innovations. There is a serious innovation effort behind the quality of our machines. We are also expanding our service network by providing on-site services to companies and customers.
What has been your company’s biggest achievement over the past 12 months?
With our initiatives in the last 12 months, despite the challenges in many markets and a highly competitive market in all areas, we have proven ourselves repeatedly in our strengths. We also showed how flexible we have in the face of economic difficulties, without being affected by falling volumes and big changes.
If you evaluate in terms of the exports market, what is the importance of Turkey for your company?
Turkey is not only important to us but also an indispensable market for two reasons. This is also very well known at Rieter, our mother company. Turkey is important for us because it is very differentiated market. In Turkey we have different segments, and SSM is present in many of these segments. Winding, technical yarns, air texturing, and it is also geographically spread, the Istanbul region, the Bursa region, Gaziantep, we have very wide spread presence. We are number one in these segments in Turkey. No matter what happens over the years with different situations taking place. Turkey is also an attractive market and that is why we will continue to focus on Turkey.
Do you want to make investments in Turkey in the near future?
In terms of production I think our company has left a diminishing footprint in the market. For this reason, we are contacting textile stakeholders to take advantage of opportunities and cooperate. There are two Turkish companies we are currently negotiating and contacts are continuing. Because problems with different applications that focus on Turkey, together, we see the opportunity to develop solutions. We also receive positive comments from customers who want to cooperate with us.
