Home Textile Sector Started the Last Quarter of the Year with an Increase in Exports
Turkiye maintains its 4th place in the world home textile exports. Home textile manufacturers continue to produce and export despite the negativities such as regional wars, global economic crisis, fluctuations in exchange rates and cost increases. In 2024, the home textile sector, whose exports decreased from time to time, started the last quarter of the year with an increase in exports.
Turkiye’s home textile exports fell by 8.7% in the January-October period of 2024. Turkiye, which exported 1.589.697 billion dollars in the January-October period of 2023, exported 1.451.006 billion dollars of home textiles in the same period of 2024.
Home Textile Exports Increased by 4% in October

“We will Continue to Produce and Contribute to Our Exports”
Provinces such as Bursa, Denizli, Istanbul, Izmir and Uşak stand out in home textile production. Annual home textile exports decreased by 14.4 per cent in 2023 compared to the previous year and amounted to approximately 1.9 billion dollars. Considering the shuttle trade and tourism shopping, Turkiye’s total home textile exports reach 3 billion dollars. Hasan Hüseyin Bayram, President of Turkish Home Textile Industrialists’ and Business People’s Association (TETSIAD), which has nearly 1000 members, said: “Regional wars and global conflicts, economic crises negatively affect global trade and our exports. However, as industrialists, we will continue to produce and contribute to our exports.”
Reminding that the competitiveness of Turkish manufacturers has weakened due to the fixing of the exchange rate, Bayram reminded that manufacturers should be supported financially. Bayram said: “Unfortunately, branding in our sector has only gained importance in recent years and our companies have started to invest in it. Among the reasons for being so late is the cost effect. If the incentives and supports on this issue are made attractive, our companies will go for branding and invest more.”
“We Should Focus on Protecting Our Market”
İbrahim Burkay, President of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), emphasised that Turkiye has ‘competitive advantage in technical and functional textiles’ in home textiles compared to its competitors. President Burkay said, ‘We do not expect a serious decline in exports. The sector maintains its strength in the markets. Contracts are made for a minimum of one year and exports continue. However, there are decreases in new contracts. Let’s focus on protecting the existing market.’
Burkay said that there is a recession all over the world, but there is no downward trend in our exports, and continued as follows: “The difficulties seem to continue until the end of 2025. All segments have been experiencing difficulties for the last 1 year. We all, as a country, should be a little more patient. Starting from the second half of 2025, a new era will begin that will pave the way for Turkiye. Hopefully, we will write success stories again. In this period, our companies should focus on efficiency, simplify and differentiate as much as possible. For this, let’s continue to do research and development, innovation and design so that our products will be more competitive and value-added.”
