Stating that IGM 2022 is an important global meeting platform for the apparel and textile industry, Durak Tekstil Board Member and Marketing Director Yiğit Durak underlined that the exhibition is the right platform to meet with the supply chain of the industry. Durak said; ‘‘IGM is a proven exhibition and represents a very important business volume. Important investment and purchasing decisions for the apparel industry, one of Turkey’s most important production and export industries, will be realized at this exhibition. As a company that focuses on increasing its global brand value, we aim to use the advantages that IGM will offer us and realize its potential.’’
‘‘We compete through quality and R&D, not price’’
Emphasizing that they have a portfolio of sewing and embroidery threads for dozens of different applications in many different segments, Yiğit Durak stated that in this context, apparel is an emerging market with great potential for them. However, Durak reminded that the sector is sensitive to price competition in terms of production costs and that the cheaper product is generally preferred, and for this reason, they are moving forward with a different market strategy. Durak; ‘‘We appeal to segments with high added value, whose production requires a little more complexity and finesse. For example, we specialize in polyester threads with buttonhole in denim and jean production. We are focused on increasing our brand value and strength in the market with our threads with many distinctive technical features for other apparel productions.’’
Expressing that Durak Tekstil carries out intensive R&D studies with the strength and experience of 50 years of background, Durak noted that as a result of this process, they offer innovative threads with technical properties to the sector. Durak continued his statements as follows; ‘‘Especially customers who base production on a certain quality standard, work export-oriented and provide ready-to-wear production to developed markets show great interest in these innovative threads. Our threads, which have many different features such as performance enhancing, moisture repellent, flame retardant, fungus and mold resistant, provide an important added value for the apparel industry. We also demonstrate that we are committed to sustainability from cradle to cradle with our Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Global Recycling Certificate (GRS). In short, R&D and sustainability constitute our fundamental future vision.’’
‘‘Investments boosted our strength’’
Yiğit Durak indicated that production and marketing processes have accelerated more than ever due to the fast fashion and personalization demands of the apparel industry and that these processes have gained even more momentum with e-commerce platforms, and explained that they are working with a very strong capacity in terms of both fast supply and providing threads with the desired color and quality characteristics. Durak continued as follows; ‘‘We have a production power and stock amount that can meet even the almost instant demands of apparel manufacturers. The 50% capacity increasing investment we made in 2020 brought us to a strong position in terms of the market. Today, as an integrated sewing and embroidery thread manufacturer, we have international production and sales networks. We export to more than 75 countries and have our own offices in many important markets. Our strategy to become a global brand is progressing successfully.’’
Pointing out that in addition to threads with technical features, threads produced from recycled raw materials and GOTS certified threads were also exhibited at their booth at IGM 2022, Durak stated that sustainability has now become an indispensable standard for textiles. ‘‘Our first basic environmental investments that will minimize our footprint on the environment in the production process have been completed. In this way, important steps have been taken to protect both clean natural resources, especially water, and to release waste water and gases after production, and visible successful results have been achieved. Durak Tekstil increases its value as a sustainable and environmentally friendly brand with each period.’’
