FONG’S and THEN Dyeing Machines – Environmentalist Pisa Tekstil’s Choice
Pisa Tekstil Production Coordinator Nil MECIT
Pisa Tekstil, which started its activities in 1988; produces knitted fabrics for swimwear, underwear, sports and comfortable daily use textile products.
Continuing its manufacturing in its fully integrated production facility in Istanbul until today, Pisa Tekstil continues its preparations for its new production facility in Çerkezköy, which will be operational by the beginning of September 2021.
Recycled Fabric Technologies
One of the new production technologies that have recently arisen in the textile industry has been recycled polyester. Pisa Tekstil produces sustainable fabrics through processing PET products, which normally take many years to dissolve in nature, as regular polyester. In this direction, the company possesses the ‘‘Global Recycle Standard’’ certificate.
Protecting the Environment and Sustainability is Priority
With a capacity of 1.500 tons/year in warp and circular knitted fabric and 4.500 tons/year in the dye house, the company manages all its processes, especially production, in line with environmental, social, and financial sustainability. In order to provide a habitable world to future generations, the company carries out environmental activities such as making ethical choices, developing smart climate solutions, and protecting natural resources.
In particular, spot-on solutions are developed for environmental issues such as the use of chemicals, water and energy consumption, and post-production wastes, which are the main problems in textile production. Pisa Tekstil makes intensive efforts to minimize all negative effects by making improvements at every stage of production.
In this direction, Pisa Tekstil prefers THEN and FONG’S dye machines as they provide significant savings in water, energy, and chemical usage in the dye houses of the company. These machines can dye nylon, polyester, and blends of those fabrics containing high elastane at very low tension, ensuring that the fabrics are convenient, comfortable, and soft textured.
In our interview with Pisa Tekstil Production Coordinator Nil MECIT for Tekstil Teknoloji Magazine, we talked about the development process of the company and its cooperation with FONG’S and THEN since 2000.
Could you please briefly talk about the development process of Pisa Tekstil and its current position? In this context, what can you say about your growth and your new production facility in Çorlu?
Kom Textile and Apparel Industry Inc, founded by Hasan Cansız in 1950, made investments in knitting, dyeing, printing and finishing in 1988 to produce its own fabrics and established Pisa Tekstil and Dye Industries Inc. in Yenibosna / Istanbul.
Since 1988, the company has been serving as a fabric manufacturer in swimwear, underwear, and sportswear. After 2000, a fabric sales department has been established. Known for quality, creativity and reliability for 33 years with its integrated fabric production facility and technology, Pisa Tekstil has specialized in the production of swimwear, underwear and sportswear fabric. Beginning September 2021, it will continue its operations in its new 50-decare place in Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone.

What is your production volume? How much of your production do you export, and, to which countries?
Our production volume is 1.500 tons/year in warp and circular knitting. Our dye house capacity is 4.500 tons/year. 30% of our dye house production is contract-based and the rest is fabric sales. 20% of our fabric sales are export. Belarus, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, Bulgaria, Israel, Italy, Denmark, Ukraine, England and the Netherlands are some of the countries that we export to.
Could you please provide information about the types, features, differences of your products and your Recycled Fabrics?
Our product portfolio is very diverse. We have a wide range of synthetic fabrics with high elasticity and performance, such as swimwear, underwear, corsets, lining and duplex. While our fabrics provide high protection against the harmful rays of the sun, they are also resistant to the adverse effects of salty and chlorinated water.
In our dye house, we produce quality products made out of nylon, polyester, wool, silk, linen, viscose, modal and mercerized cotton in accordance with world standards.
In recent years, the use of sustainable materials in the fabric industry has started to increase. There has been an increase in the utilization of recycled polyester and nylon fabrics in our country. Anka, Allegra, Bandusia RC, Arnica and Laurel quality brands, which are used in swimwear, underwear and sportswear, are some of our recycled products.
With FONG’S and THEN machines, it is possible to dye products from 40 g / m2 to 350 g / m2 sensitive products to the widest range of fabrics.
What are the criteria you attach particular importance to in your production processes?
The criteria we attach particular importance to in our production are quality, product reliability, timely delivery, cost and efficient use of our natural resources.
What do you pay attention to most when deciding machinery purchases and making technology investments in your production facility? As one of the leading fabric manufacturers in the country, what are your priorities in order to maintain your competitive power and quality?
Machinery selection is of great importance for businesses in increasing competition conditions. During the decision process of purchasing a particular machine, we take into account criteria such as suitability of the machine to be purchased for our purposes, technical features, impact on environmental factors, ease of use, accessibility of spare parts, technical service and cost.
What were the main factors that caused you to choose FONG’S and THEN technologies regarding the benefits they provide to the quality of your fabric? Could you please provide brief information about the beginning and duration of your cooperation?
Our cooperation with FONG’S and THEN technologies dates back to 2000. We have used and continue to use many of their machines since 2000. Our reason to prefer them is that the units of these companies provide significant savings in water, energy and chemical usage. Moreover, their ability to dye the widest range of fabrics from sensitive products ranging from 40 g/m2 to 350 g/m2, is extraordinary. Their machines can also dye our nylon, polyester and blends of those that contain high elastane, at very low tension.
What would you like to say about the contributions, advantages and added values of FONG’S and THEN dye machines to your production and products? Can you evaluate the positive contribution they provide to your understanding of high quality?
When we chose FONG’S and THEN machines, the service and after-sales support that they provide is among our main reasons to prefer them. All these features ensure that our fabrics are convenient, comfortable, soft-textured and increase our competitiveness against foreign manufacturers abroad.
