Tamtex has an R&D, knitting, printing, dyeing, fabric sales, and apparel department in its 25,000 m2 closed area, built on 4 hectares of land in Çorlu.
The dyehouse, which has a monthly production capacity of 600,000 kg, has further increased its productivity and capacity with new investments and modernization works.
Production for global clothing brands
Garment and ready-to-wear production are carried out in facilities in Ordu and Bulgaria. Apparel products manufactured for global brands are produced in and exported from these factories. In addition to these, the company’s Istanbul office provides services with its designer, marketing, and sales teams.
The global brand customers of Tamtex include H&M (Sweden), Inditex Group (Spain), Vero Moda, Vila, Jack & Jones, Marks & Spencer, Kappahl, Tommy Hilfiger, and Otto-Hermes Int.
Environmental Protection and Sustainability mission
Tamtex follows the technological innovations in the textile sector very closely, in line with the medium and long-term goals that the company has set to reduce carbon and water footprint. After technological investments that consume less water, electricity, and energy, the company renews its current track and invests in renewable energy. For example, Tamtex provides 25% of the electricity that it consumes today from solar energy. The company aims to make additional investments to increase this rate in the following years.
The company constantly invests in technologies that are environmentally friendly, supportive in increasing capacity, useful in maintaining quality, and helpful in developing innovative products. The company prefers the machinery that provides the best results since it produces the fabrics that are used in apparel production in its own dye house. Hasan Can explains these investments as follows: ‘‘We have to develop continuously and make investments according to changing needs.’’
Within the framework of this differentiation and new product development priorities, Tamtex, which utilizes GOLLER washing and THEN dyeing machines, provides high quality in its fabrics. It outfaces its rivals in the world, especially in lycra, polyamide, and polyester fabrics.
We conducted an interview with the founder of Tamtex, Hasan Can, for Textile Technology Magazine regarding the establishment of the dyehouse and its current status, and the cooperation of the company with GOLLER and THEN in this process.
Could you please elaborate on the establishment process of your dyehouse?
We started garment and ready-to-wear production in 1992. When we started to produce for global brands, the structure and quality of the fabrics that we use became our priority. Accordingly, when we could not supply the fabric that we needed in our production process from overseas, we decided to invest in a dyehouse to develop and produce these fabrics.
We bought this dyehouse in 1998-1999 and started making arrangements to meet our garment and ready-to-wear production needs. Our experience was in garment production, however, the operation of a dyehouse is a very different and complicated business. We made interviews and collaborations with the experienced people of the industry during our research process to see what to do and how to do it. One of those people was Mehmet Özcan from İnter Tekstil. In one of our conversations, he mentioned dyehouse investments in Germany, and I said that I wanted to see them. Thus, we went to several companies in Germany and then in Austria and held discussions on the subject. In Austria, we saw the significance of the pad batch dyeing system in knitted fabric production and the respect of this system to both production and product and most importantly the world.
We set out with the thought of how we can implement this environmentally friendly and nature-caring production process when we returned to Turkey.
The Goller washing machine allows them to obtain a smoother surface in the final product in some fancy and delicate fabrics types that contain lycra produced by Tamtex. It has made an extra contribution to our quality in products such as swimsuit fabrics and synthetic delicate fabrics, and the ability to pre-wash before fixation.
What did you do differently in this process?
For example, in a dyehouse in Germany, I saw that the fabrics were knitted in large sizes. Their fabric rolls were approximately 200 kg, not 20-25 kg like ours. While establishing our knitting department, we invested in machinery and technologies that would let us achieve this.
With this system, we reduced wastage by around 7%. Through this investment, we started a new production process that is fast, efficient, and indispensable in the fight against our competitors.
Have you introduced any varieties in dyehouse management?
The dyehouse management business moves one step further every day in line with the developing technology and the sustainability goals of the world. The companies can only succeed by succeeding a difference in such an environment. In this context, we are improving ourselves every day to be better. We are working hard to minimize the impact of environmental aspects with our waste management efforts. In this context, our wastes are used as raw materials in organizations in different sectors. In addition, we have brought a brand value to our wastes that we can recycle in the dyehouse, and we deliver the products obtained from recycled fabrics to the final consumer under our own brand.
As Tamtex, we consider that the focus of our industry is human and we do not stop investing in people. We are one of the leading companies that have started to implement a performance-based fair wage policy in the textile industry. At Tamtex, we make great efforts to empower women in business life. By establishing a women’s committee within our company, we aimed to ensure that women take an active role in business life and increase women’s employment.
With the Then Supraflow LTM paint machine; many elastane fabrics (such as 80% PA + 20% Lycra; swimwear fabrics) that could only be dyed with beam dyeing technology until now can be dyed with this machine without any problems.
Following the footsteps of global brands that direct the textile industry, we attach importance to completing the necessary certification processes related to the sector. We are one of the first companies to receive the TSE Covid-19 safe production certificate in the textile industry. With ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 certifications, we improved our management systems, our work environment, and gathered quality, environment, and efficiency under the same roof. We share the results that we have achieved in line with these efforts with our collaborators on global and social platforms within the scope of the transparency principle of our company.
What were the main factors that caused you to choose GOLLER and THEN technologies in terms of developing new fabrics? Could you please provide information about the establishment and process of your collaboration?
We are well aware that the effective use of resources has become a policy that should be implemented in all industries due to the decreasing natural resources and increasing world population. Technological, ecological, and social changes have also brought about changes in the norms of need, and the necessity for industries to turn towards sustainable and environmental strategies has emerged.
And we set out by utilizing GOLLER and THEN technologies that will support us in these endeavors. We have been working together for about 3 years.
The deadline provides a competitive advantage for you in your orders. Accordingly, how would you evaluate the after-sales services of GOLLER and THEN machinery?
We produce with short deadlines. In this direction, it is important that our machines operate continuously. We are satisfied with the after-sales services of GOLLER and THEN machines. We have received and continue to receive full service in both installation and assembly and service.
What would you like to tell about the contributions, advantages, and added values of GOLLER and THEN dye machines to your manufacturing process and products?
There are two main reasons that we prefer these machines. The first reason is that the fabric can be finished directly with much lower water consumption. At the same time, the fact that it is much faster as a process is an important advantage for us, especially in fabric types suitable for this short-term machine. In addition to low water consumption, saving on chemical consumption has been another advantage for us.
Secondly, it has made an extra contribution to our quality in products such as swimsuit fabrics and synthetic delicate fabrics, and the ability to pre-wash before fixation, which enables us to obtain a smoother surface in the final product in some fancy and delicate fabric types that contain lycra.
In this manner, we manufacture our products at the highest quality and at a lower cost than our competitors in the world. We use these fabrics in our own apparel production in addition to selling them to other companies in line with the demands. This feature not only provides us with a competitive advantage around the world but also offers the opportunity to produce at the highest quality.
Hasan CAN: “Thanks to the Goller and Then machines, we manufacture our products at the highest quality and at a lower cost than our competitors in the world. We use these fabrics in our own apparel production in addition to selling them to other companies in line with the demands. This feature not only provides us with a competitive advantage around the world but also offers the opportunity to produce at the highest quality.”
Is your point of view and understanding in production the most important reason why global brands prefer you?
In my opinion, our respect for our work, our discipline, our determination to always seek the better by improving ourselves are always seen and appreciated by our customers. Since the foundation of Tamtex, we have always carried our business forward with our investments in people and our production facilities, our environment-friendly production understanding, and our modern and efficient infrastructure. We have always prioritized the demands and expectations of our customers in line with our corporate understanding.
At Tamtex, we have never lagged behind this change in social understanding and business.
Our understanding of quality, rapid and accurate service, and standing shoulder to shoulder with our customers have always earned us.
When we look at the past, we are proud of working for more than 22 years with many of our customers.

GOLLER Sintensa Continuous Washing Machine
It is a specially designed machine developed for washing knitted fabrics and delicate woven fabrics without tension and with high efficiency.
The distinguishing feature of the Sintensa Cyclone Single or Tandem drum washing compartments is the high washing efficiency that removes even stubborn dirt, such as highly viscous spinning oils or large-molecular dyes, with little water consumption. The compartments are compact. Intensive washing mechanics replace the time factor when washing. With the help of the cyclone technology of the rotor inside the washing drum, washing liquor is first sucked through the goods into the drum and then applied through the drum to the other side of the goods. The product is optimally flowed through, runs in a controlled, wrinkle-free manner on the drum and is guided through the machine with little tension. This ensures a fast and gentle washing process. And also; The Sintensa washing machine is an environment- friendly technology that consumes less water and provides significant savings.
