ISCC Plus Certificate to Kordsa
With its recycled polyester production process, Kordsa was awarded the ISCC (International Sustainability Carbon Certification) Plus Certificate, one of the most prestigious and comprehensive certification programmes in the field of sustainability.
Kordsa, a subsidiary of Sabancı Holding, added a new one to its achievements in the field of sustainability. The company was awarded the ‘Gold Medal’ award by Ecovadis as a result of the evaluation made in the past months. Committed to reduce its emissions by 46.2% by 2030 with a roadmap approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), Kordsa’s sustainability efforts were also approved by ISCC, one of the world’s most reputable certification programmes.
Founded in 1973, Kordsa’s İzmit facility is the first global production centre of Kordsa, and today the company exports value-added products to different geographies with its competencies in tire reinforcement. İzmit facility received the ISCC Plus Certificate, which is accepted as one of the most fundamental criteria in the sustainable product purchasing process of tire manufacturers. With this certificate, Kordsa has registered the compliance of its yarn, single cord and cord fabric products made of recycled polyester in its product range and its production model with international sustainability standards.
End-of-Life Materials are Included in the Remanufacturing Process
Recycled polyester-containing tire reinforcement technologies, an important element of Kordsa’s circular economy approach and sustainable product range, enable the re-inclusion of end-of-life materials in production processes. With this model, Kordsa is preparing to offer low-carbon products to tire manufacturers in the global market.
Technology and Sustainability are two important benchmark that will carry us into the future
Commenting on the issue, Salih Kahraman, Kordsa’s Executive Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), said: “Today, at Kordsa, we consider technology and sustainability as two important brenchmark that serve the same purpose and will carry us to a more livable future. In this context, while continuously developing our production processes and product portfolio in the light of high technology, we also prioritise the creation of permanent value for all our stakeholders in the field of sustainability with our technological competence. In this context, we consider this ISCC Plus certificate received by our Izmit facility not only as a document that will put us in an advantageous position in global competition, but also as a document of determination as we move towards our 2030 interim targets and 2050 net zero targets, to which we have committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative.”
