The Only Ready-to-Wear Brand from Turkey to Be Included in the CDP Climate Global ‘A’ List: Mavi
Among the companies whose commitments SBTi has approved, there are only 12 companies from Turkey, and Mavi stands out as the only ready-to-wear company on the list.
Mavi, in line with the Paris Climate Agreement’s goal of keeping global warming below 1.5 °C, commits to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 70% from the base year 2019 to 2030 and reduce Scope 3 emissions in the purchased goods and services category by 55% per Tl added value. Approval of targets by SBTI means that the targets developed by the firm are based on science and in accordance with SBTi’s target setting criteria.
Speaking on the issue, CEO Cüneyt Yavuz said, ” The leading companies take on responsibility in the fight against climate change. The activities carried out by Mavi are as follows:
- Mavi became the only ready-to-wear brand from Turkey to be included in the CDP Climate Global “A” List.
- Included in the BIST Sustainability 25 Index with the steps it has taken in terms of sustainability.
- With its sustainable solutions in fashion, the Mavi All Blue collection was awarded Rivet’s “Most Sustainable Collection” four times.
- The nature-friendly All Blue collection, which grows larger every year, is produced with innovative techniques using sustainable and regenerative materials, using less water and energy. By increasing the share of the sustainable All Blue collection in its turnover to 9.7% in 2021, Mavi aims to create its entire denim collection from All Blue products in 2030 and to ensure that 100% of the cotton used in the products is obtained from sustainable sources.

SBTi mentors companies in setting emission reduction targets based on up-to-date climate science and implementing them. For this reason, it especially supports companies in the sectors that produce the highest emissions to be included in the initiative.
