Interview: Dilek Hayırlı
Markus Wurster, Sales and Marketing Director at Trützschler Spinning said; “Our customers worldwide are currently facing political and economic instabilities that are not conducive to investment. However, the Turkish market has always been very resilient. Our Turkish customers are constantly finding ways to adapt to their challenges.”
As one of the world’s leading suppliers of spinning preparation technologies for cotton and man-made fibres, Trützschler continues to drive technological developments in the industry and pioneer digital transformation by rapidly adapting to customer requirements worldwide. Trützschler not only develops solutions that increase productivity, but also aims to recycle textile waste as an important steps towards sustainability. We interviewed with Markus Wurster, Sales and Marketing Director at Trützschler Spinning for the special issue of ‘German Textile Machinery Industry’. Shedding light on Trützschler’s vision shaped by global economic uncertainties and the transformation in the sector, Wurster emphasised the trust-based relationships the company has established with its customers in Turkiye for many years and the importance of the local services it provides. While Wurster shared his expectations regarding digitalization trends, recycling solutions and customer-focused innovations, he also provided insights into how Trützschler will support the competitive structure in the Turkish market.
What were the main challenges for Trützschler in 2024, considering global economic fluctuations, supply chain problems or the general dynamics of the sector? What strategic changes have you made to your product or service portfolio?
Our customers worldwide are currently facing political and economic instabilities that are not conducive to investment. In Türkiye in particular, our customers suffered from inflation and high loan costs. However, the Turkish market has always been very resilient. Our Turkish customers are constantly finding ways to adapt to their challenges. We help our clients in Türkiye to stay competitive by investing heavily in R&D and offering cutting-edge technology as well as excellent local service.
“Our Carding Technologies Attract Great Interest in the Turkish Market”
Turkiye is a major textile manufacturer worldwide. What are the technological trends and demands that will determine the Turkish textile sector in the near future? How do you respond to these trends as Trützschler? Which Trützschler technology are Turkish textile manufacturers most interested in?
We are seeing great interest in our carding technology, especially our next generation TC 30i card in combination with our IDF 3 integrated draw frame for direct spinning and IDF vortex spinning, resulting in higher quality and increased production.
Among the trends we observe is the growing demand for blended yarns. Blends of cotton and synthetic fibers are becoming increasingly popular, partly due to the limited resources available for cotton production. Our T-BLEND system is the ideal solution for processing these blends. It ensures the highest optical and structural quality in the end product and contributes to a uniform appearance in dyed items.
In recent years, we have also seen an increasing trend towards recycling, which we believe will be important in the future. This includes the demand for solutions to produce high-quality products made from secondary fibers of textile waste. With TRUECYCLED, Trützschler offers a complete solution for state-of-the-art recycling of textile waste: from cutting and tearing textile waste to carding and drawing secondary fibers, resulting in high-quality, sustainable yarns.
Digitalization also continues to be a trend. This includes both the digitalization of machinery itself as well as new business models and digital services. Our cloud-based solution, My Mill, for example, allows customers to monitor and optimize their spinning mill anytime, anywhere, boosting automation and ensuring consistent high quality. This goes hand in hand with the trend towards machine automation. We are seeing strong demand for this as our customers find it increasingly difficult to find qualified personnel.
What is the secret of your long-term cooperation with your Turkish customers? Do you prioritize customer demands when developing products?
Our long-term cooperation with customers in Turkiye – and worldwide – is built on trust, strong partnerships, and continuous investment in growth, all driven by customer feedback and demands. We constantly evaluate our performance to not only meet but exceed the increasing expectations of our customers, always demonstrating our commitment to providing the best possible service. The local service and expertise of our service teams are crucial for this market. A great example of this is our new facility in Uşak, equipped with a warehouse, a repair shop and laboratory. It allows us to serve the Aegean region even faster. More than 800 of our cards are installed at customer sites in this region. With a dedicated local service team supporting customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their installations, we offer reliable assistance at every stage.
“The Feedback for Our TC 30i, IDF 3, and TCO 21XL Has Been Excellent”
What kind of feedback did you receive from the market with your TC 30i, IDF 3 and TCO 21XL machines that you launched recently? Which technologies stand out in the design of these machines in order to increase efficiency?
The feedback for our TC 30i, IDF 3, and TCO 21XL has been excellent. The TC 30i, with up to 40 % production increase for man-made fibers and up to 20 % production increase for cotton, is in high demand. It offers excellent capabilities for cotton and man-made fibers, as well as operator-independent high performance thanks to the T-GO Gap Optimizer, which ensures an optimal carding gap even under changing production conditions.
The IDF 3 is highly regarded for its ease of use. By integrating the first draw frame passage into the card coiler, it streamlines the process, saving valuable time and ensuring the fastest path to perfect quality. The TCO 21XL with its 12 combing heads stands out with a 50 % productivity increase, while delivering the same quality as a standard 8-head comber. Just two TCO 21XL combers can match the output of three conventional combers, offering our customers a significant advantage in terms of price-performance ratio (cost/kg).
The textile industry is increasingly under pressure regarding sustainability. What are your goals in this area as Trützschler? What technological solutions have you developed to reduce the environmental impact of your products?
As a textile machinery manufacturer, we are particularly focused on the recycling of textile waste. Currently, only 1 % of textile waste is recycled. With our machinery and technological know-how we can help to change this and make a significant contribution to sustainability in the textile chain. The solution that we developed is called TRUECYCLED: Trützschler’s complete solution for the state-of-the-art recycling of pre-consumer and post-consumer textile waste. TRUECYCLED encompasses all process steps from the cutting and tearing of textile waste to the carding and drawing of secondary fibers. The TRUECYCLED process makes it possible to achieve a recycling yarn with the best possible quality.
How does Trützschler follow technological developments in the textile sector and how does it integrate these developments into its own products?
The most important thing for us remains the exchange with our customers about their needs and to monitor overall trends. By focusing on smart solutions that enhance productivity, quality, and sustainability, we stay at the forefront of technological developments. We believe excellent spinning preparation is crucial for yarn quality, which is why we’ve developed intelligent, self-optimizing machines – and connect them through digital monitoring systems.
Are there any upcoming Trützschler innovations that you are particularly excited about?
With the successful market launch of our TC 30i card and integrated draw frame IDF 3, we have once again demonstrated our technological leadership in the field of spinning preparation. We will build on this in the future and continue to develop cutting-edge innovations that respond to the needs of our customers.
