“Prejudices Against Domestic Production Need to Be Overcome”
Offering services in the field of industrial heating systems, Nam Isi transforms its 20 years of experience in the industry into production and produces burners in accordance with European standards (CE) under the brand Nam Burner. With its quick success in the field of burner production, the company is among the industry’s manufacturing companies.
The company has seized a place in the spare parts sector and continues its services without compromising the principles of honesty, trust and success with online shopping services on www.mekanikmarketim.com in line with the developments in the industry and the changing market conditions. Producing the same quality of burners produced made abroad, Nam Isi also guarantees to serve its customers during the working hours.
In this issue of our Tekstil Teknoloji magazine, we held an interview with Hakan Arslan, General Manager of Nam Isi. Arslan said, “We have the advantage of offering easily accessible and affordable spare parts,” adding “There are some brands that are burnt in the minds of the customers. They cannot get over them. As we are able to produce the same quality as the European companies, the prejudices against domestic production should be overcome.”
First of all, can you tell us about the history of your company and the development process to date?
Our company was established in 1995 as a burner maintenance service company. After opening our branch in Çorlu in 1998, we moved our headquarters to Çorlu in 2008. In 2014-2015, we were providing services to many factories in our region and we started to produce Nam Burners. During the first three to four years, our company’s growth continued to increase by 100%. Then it was fixed at a certain growth rate. We were providing burners to 80% of the stenter manufacturers in Turkey.
What are the reasons for other companies to prefer your products?
There are not many companies producing stenters and dryer burners especially in Turkey. Companies generally import these products. In this case, the companies have a longer period of waiting for the spare parts in case of failures and technical service costs are very costly. We, however, provide services within 24 hours if the customer is in the same city, and within 48 hours for companies in a different city. We provide technical services in textile cities such as Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş and Bursa. In this case, accessibility and price availability of spare parts also weigh in. I can say that we have the advantage of offering easily accessible and affordable spare parts.
What kind of activities do you carry out in terms of bringing your brand to the forefront?
We have been manufacturing and participating in exhibitions for five years. We are tring to introduce our products in exhibitions as much as we can. In addition, we participate in meetings and seminars organized by associations for the textile industry.
What kind of activities did you carry out to promote your products abroad? Which countries do you export to?
Thanks to the products we provided to manufacturers in the first place, our products achieved a success abroad. Later, purchases started directly from us through exhibitions. We closed a deal with Yamuna, one of the largest stenter manufacturers in India. Since there are many hot oil stenter machines in the area, we agreed with the company on around 100 to 150 burners. We also have agencies in Bangladesh, Argentina and Peru. We believe that our exports will be more in the future. Exports are very important for us, but we, as one of the best textile countries in the world, want the local producers to buy more local products.
What are your expectations from the domestic textile machinery manufacturers?
Although the local machinery manufacturers produce local products themselves, they tend to think that they can sell more if they use a well-known imported product on their machines. Intermediate production in Turkey is a very limited and almost 70% of the stenter machines are not domestic. Most of the accessories on them are imported. In the absence of intermediate production, imported brands are still preferred while we aim to sell our own products. We expect textile manufacturers to use domestic products. As a result, they will use a machine of the same quality, made with the same accessories. In terms of costs, there is an average of eight cabins in a stenter machine and there is a difference of around 1000 Euros per burner. This is an important factor for taxes being paid in Turkey and the national capital remaining in Turkey.
There was a gap in our country in terms of burner production for years. Domestic burners were not the same quality as the imported ones. You’ve made it in five years. What do you attribute this success to?
I think our success is related to our ability to act fast and to work with stocks. Stenter manufacturers need to order their burners from abroad as soon as possible so that they can receive them within 6-8 weeks. However, we deliver our products within a week. And we are putting them in operation free of charge. In addition, we offer a two-year warranty for our products. In case of failures, we quickly provide technical services. In terms of quality, we produce with the same quality as the European companies. There are some brands that are burnt in the minds of the customers. They cannot get over them. As we are able to produce the same quality with them, the prejudices against domestic production should be overcome.
What do you do in order to serve your customers better in the future?
Our current sites are starting to fail to suffice for the capacity. For this reason, we moved our facility to the Ulaş Region in Çorlu. We want to start the construction within a short period of time and expand our production and sales of spare parts. We are working on this issue now. We are closely following the industry and participating in exhibitions. We also care very much about customer demands. We strive to do whatever the customer wants.
You also have an online shopping website where you sell your products. Can you tell us about it?
Our mechanical market was first designed as an online shopping website. Then we turned it into a company. The burners, our own products under the brand Nam Isi, are sold on www.mekanikmarketim.com. We also sell spare parts for industrial products such as steam, pressure, humidity and air solutions on our website. In addition, we have three or four burners sold every day in another well-known online shopping website.
