“Turkey is a Very Important Market to Promote Our Products”
ITM 2024, the address of real-time monitoring of textile machinery, continues to bring together the industry leaders on the third day. On the third day of the event, we interviewed Axel Brünner, Head of Product and Service Center at Mayer&Cie, a specialist manufacturer of circular knitting machines.
Can you briefly inform us about the products you highlighted as Mayer&Cie. at ITM 2024?
At ITM 2024 we are presenting our new control system. We call it SmartControl. With this control system, we can also connect the machines to the internet, to the cloud, and the customer can get machine data, production data and productivity very easily over all machines. Our machines are equipped with this SmartControl. The Polar machine here is the new development to produce elastic fleece with very good coverage. On the other side, Relanit is a very successful machine worldwide. Now equipped with a new open width takedown. And this new open width takedown has a great feature, because we pull the fabric down over the cutting area and therefore we have a very good tension around the cylinder completely for each needle. So we work with fewer errors or zero errors. It is also equipped with Groz-Beckert’s spring single technology and Groz-Beckert’s new needle shape, the LC max, produced by the new Mayer & Cie. and Groz- Beckert as a competitor machine. Thanks to these components we are more efficient. Our machines are also equipped with an lubrication system. We call it Senso Blue RS. This stands for used needle oil. It can be recycled and reused in the machine. This is a great effort for the environment and sustainability. Another utility that our machines have is the integration of our new camera system. We call it knithawk. We can detect the plies in horizontal, vertical and point positions. All the plies produced on this machine will be detected by knithawk. As a result, we can eliminate fabric control, which is a great advantage for companies using such machines with high throughput. This machine can produce between 800 and 1000 kg. Nobody can check the fabric with their own eyes. Only this knithawk machine can control the fabric at that quality.
The textile machinery industry is going through a difficult period economically. Why is ITM 2024 so important for the industry this year?
Turkey is one of our major markets. India and Uzbekistan are also very large markets in the neighborhood of Turkey. So we expect a lot of visitors from these countries as well. And of course our best customers are from Turkey. So Turkey is always a very important country to present our products and new developments.
How were the first two days of the exhibition for Mayer&Cie.?
We are happy with the interest we have received so far. We are also satisfied with the whole organization of the exhibition. Before we came, we expected that more visitors would see us here. Of course, the number of visitors is not the same as two years ago.
