“We Brought Products that Increased Speed and Efficiency Into the Forefront at IGM 2022”

Gökçen Kaya, Marketing Department Officer of YKK, which one of the IGM 2022 participants, talked about the less consumption of natural resources that became widespread with the pandemic and the innovations they developed in production and made evaluations about the sector.
Could you evaluate the importance of IGM 2022, which welcomed its visitors for the 27th time, for the industry?
IGM Exhibition has of great importance in terms of bringing domestic and foreign companies together. After the pandemic, IGM 2022 is valuable for us as it is the first exhibition we attended in the country. We participated in the IGM 2022 Exhibition by seeing an opportunity to contact both existing and new customers.
What was the products you highlight at the IGM 2022 Exhibition?
We, as YKK, introduced accessories such as button, zipper, baby snap fasteners, which we produced, and our machinery and equipment that will increase the speed and efficiency of production, thanks to the IGM 2022 Exhibition. These machines and equipment are designed by YKK’s R&D team at the Technical Group Center in Hadımköy and are produced and one hundred percent home production. Especially after the pandemic, it has become very important for all of us to reduce the use of natural resources. We aimed to reduce the use of natural resources with the products we developed using recycled materials. As a result of these studies, we have produced many products such as natulon zippers, buttons made from organic raw materials, and screwed buttons suitable for upcycling that can be disassembled and reassembled.
Turkey, one of the world’s largest textile and garment manufacturers, is unfortunately heavily dependent on foreign countries for garment and ready-to-wear machinery. What is your take on this matter?
As YKK, we attach importance and priority to the work of our technical group in terms of machine development. All designs and productions are carried out at the center. In my opinion, the fact that especially foreign and domestic visitors are so intense at the IGM 2022 Exhibition is due to the fact that domestic technology and production speed have become an advantage.
