“We Completed 2022 with a Business Volume Exceeding Our Expectations”
At ITM 2022, EFFE introduced a brand new stenter, the 4th generation of the EFFE Pasha Stenter, as well as the newly produced print steamer and dryer, and received very positive feedback from its customers. The company, which continues its R&D studies without interruption, will bring the serious technological developments it has made on its existing machines to its customers in 2023.
We interviewed EFFE Makine Endüstri Tic. A.Ş. General Manager and Board Member İhsan Mokanoğlu talked about the assessment of 2022, new trends and 2023 plans.
Stating that the Russia-Ukraine War was a test for not only the textile machinery sector but also for all sectors in terms of the global economy, Mokanoğlu said, “While there was a need for a recovery in the sectors after the Covid-19 outbreak, unfortunately, there were bad destruction and delays without recovery. Prices in raw materials and commercial materials have reached the highest peaks of recent years. High inflation, energy crisis, commodity price increases also threw manufacturing companies into an environment of uncertainty.”
“Textile Production Doesn’t Stop, Territory Changes”
Emphasizing that production in textile never stops, only the territory changes, Mokanoğlu said, “Sometimes China, sometimes Turkey, sometimes Bangladesh, India and Pakistan markets become the center of large orders. One of the biggest advantages of us machine manufacturers is that we can do business with different countries and we can adapt to the conditions of the day very quickly.”
Stating that as the EFFE brand, they have created a road map to overcome these negativities, Mokanoğlu added the following: “We are trying to determine our road map with the dynamics of standardizing production, managing demands in a way that can make mass production, and working with stocks in raw materials and commercial products for faster order management. Of course, we are experiencing financial difficulties like other representatives of the sector, but risk-taking and risk management are also important in the short and long-term plans of businesses.”
“We Continue to Offer Our Environmentally Friendly Products to Our Customers”
At a time when the energy crisis had not yet made itself felt to such an extent, the completion of the design and project design processes of energy recovery machines and units enabled the EFFE brand to unexpectedly present ready-made products to the sector. İhsan Mokanoğlu provided information regarding EFFE’s environmentally friendly products: “Chimney heat recovery systems used in stenter machines have become a standard unit rather than an option for many companies in Europe. EFFE, which completed the relevant unit product development studies in advance, shipped the flue heat recovery units as standard in the stenter machines shipped to the European market and enabled users to operate their new machines with energy recovery up to 20%. On the other hand, EFFE, which has been offering Stenter Machine Chimney Electrostatic filter technology to more than 50 leading companies in the sector that are sensitive about the environment in Turkey with the projects developed with foreign partners since 2016 in terms of producing and supplying environmentally friendly machines, continues to offer its customers systems that filter 97% – 98% of harmful substances released from the machines to the nature to keep the air clean as standard with its machines.”
“Turkish Textile Machinery Manufacturers Do Not Prioritize Specialization”
Stating that Turkish machinery manufacturers focus on producing more machinery models, but at the end of the day, the desired specialization could not be achieved, Mokanoğlu expressed the following about the deficiencies in the textile machinery sector: “As machine manufacturers, there are two ways in front of us. Either to increase the market segments of the machines or to develop systems that will provide added value by further specializing in certain machines. To make real inventions, to provide patent protection and to achieve high quantities with mass production opportunities. In Turkey, the practice is to produce more machine models and try to specialize in more segments. However, at the end of the day, we cannot achieve the desired specialization graph in many of the machines produced. Many European machinery manufacturers aim to specialize in certain product groups and stand out among their competitors with solutions that will make a difference in the details, instead of increasing market segments.”
“EFFE’s Vision: Becoming an Authentic Machinery Manufacturer”
Mokanoğlu cotinued as follows, “The vision of EFFE company is to become an original machine manufacturer by making a real invention, developing an R&D project and providing patent protection for it. We are in the era of more technology and less labor force with Industry 4.0 in machines, many of our customers aim to provide optimum performance from their existing machines thanks to artificial intelligence software that collects various data from their machines, analyzes these data and then interprets these analyzes. In the machines we produce, we can offer textile-specific software applications developed with our solution partners as standard. By creating certain rules for the machines, enterprises can ensure both optimization in production and quality repetition.”
“We Focused on Mass Production in 2022”
Although 2022 was a year in which production opportunities were difficult, it was a year in which the targeted machinery production and exports were realized for EFFE. Mokanoğlu remarked, “We were neither above nor below market conditions in pricing. Our customers accepted the results of real costs. We were realistic, we focused on mass production, we tried to manage the process from order to shipment well, we used our mass production advantage and the advantages of supplying machines to our customers ready or with very short deadlines, and thus we completed the year 2022 with a business volume above our expectations.”
Reminding that they introduced 3 new machines at the ITM 2022 Exhibition held last June, Mokanoğlu concluded his statements as the following, “The ITM 2022 Exhibition was a great meeting. After a long time, the giants of the sector came together on a great platform, and now our preparations for the ITMA 2023 exhibition continue. With a stand of over 500 m2, we are preparing a visual and technological presentation. All applications that will add value on existing machines are ready, some of them were first launched at ITM 2022, now we are counting the days for the continuation.”
