“We Installed More Than 20 Substantial Lines in the Field of Woven Fabrics in 2022”
Thomas Paeffgen, Monforts Regional Sales Manager
Monforts is one of the leading companies in the sector in the field of fabric dyeing, finishing and technical textiles. The company, which Montex stenter lines attract great attention around the world, focuses on products with high energy efficiency. We talked with Monforts Regional Sales Manager Thomas Paeffgen, with whom we interviewed for the ‘German Textile Machinery Industry Special Issue’ of our Tekstil Teknoloji magazine, the changes and developments in textile finishing machines, export markets, and 2023 plans.
“Demand for Montex Stenter Lines Continues to be High”
Thomas Paeffgen, who we asked about his evaluations about the year 2022, said, “The year 2022 has been a very good year for us in terms of major projects.” Paeffgen, “We realised more than 20 substantial line installations, especially in the field of woven fabrics for the denim and home textiles markets. Demand continues to be high for full Montex stentering lines for essential processes such as drying, stretching, heat-setting and coating and we also completed the installation of a number of new Monfortex sanforizing lines.” said.
Paeffgen, who we asked about the feedback from the customers regarding the products Monforts has launched in recent years, expressed that there is a great interest in new products such as Montexcoat. Thomas Paeffgen continued: “A number of these systems have now been installed worldwide, including in Turkey, as well as Thermex universal hotflue lines for continuous dyeing, condensing and thermosoling which achieve unrivalled reliability. The Thermex provides exceptional cost-effectiveness when dyeing both large and small batches of woven fabrics and benefits from the Econtrol® process, developed with DyStar, for reactive dyestuffs. This is a quick and economical one-pass pad-dry and wash off process, with drying in the hot flue at 120-130°C and controlled humidity (25-30% by volume) to obtain fixation in 2-3 minutes. Econtrol® ensures excellent reproducibility of all colours, improved dye penetration on difficult fabrics and no risk of the browning of cotton or other cellulose fibres due to the low fixation temperature. As such, it is the ideal process for fast change technology and operational savings.”
“Rise in Gas and Electricity Costs Increased Interest in Dual Heating Systems”
Paeffgen explained that they did not experience any major problems due to the increase in natural gas and electricity costs; “The cost of gas and electricity climbed dramatically in 2022, leading to an increased interest in the dual heating systems we can provide. Combinations of gas/steam and gas/oil have been requested to become less dependent on gas. Steam and thermal oil is then heated with CO2 neutral biomass. Features such as the MonforClean system, or the EcoBooster, in which waste heat from the drying process is used to pre-heat the drying air, are proving more invaluable than ever. Monforts can provide a range of further resource-saving and energy recovery options tailored to each individual line installation.” he said.
Expressing that they have made a great contribution to sustainable production with the Montex stenter machine, Paeffgen said; “The Montex has become the industry standard for the fabric finishing industry, providing many advantages in terms of production throughput and especially in energy efficiency and savings. In addition to heat recovery systems, minimum order fulfilment, which is made possible by optimised process controls, has become another big requirement from the markets.”
“Alternative Heating Systems Will Be a Trend”
Thomas Paeffgen said the following words about the trends in the dyeing and finishing machinery sector in the coming years: “It’s all about alternative heating systems, minimum application systems and optimised processes. We will be launching further innovations in all of these areas at the forthcoming ITMA textile machinery exhibition in Italy in June.”
“We have also been involved in several significant new projects in Turkmenistan”
Reminding that China continues to be the number one destination for textile machinery despite all the difficulties encountered since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Paeffgen said, “We are active worldwide and in all of the major textile manufacturing centres – Bangladesh, Brazil, India, Pakistan and, of course Turkey. In addition, we have also been involved in several significant new projects in Turkmenistan, while the European market has also improved in terms of capital investments recently.”
Stating that they follow all major markets closely, Paeffgen said that they gained valuable feedback from their customers through both the national agency network and service centers.
Stating that the order books are quite busy in 2023, Paeffgen stated that they will announce their new installations in due course. Saying that they are preparing to introduce their latest innovations at the ITMA 2023, Paeffgen ended his speech as follows: “We are looking forward to many constructive discussions with our old and new customers in Milan.”
