We interviewed Victor Macovei, Color Service Area Sales Manager, for our Tekstil Teknoloji magazine. Evaluating the year 2024, Macovei talked about sustainability, digitalization and automation efforts, as well as 2025 goals. The highlights of the interview are as follows:

First of all, how was the year 2024 for your company? What were your important milestones and achievements? Can you share information about your production volume and export figures?
During 2024, Color Service continue to record a solid export performance and our production volume has grown significantly compared to recent years. Approximately 95% of our output has been exported to our main markets and this result underlines our company global relevance and the ability to compete on the international stage. We were recently honoured with the ”Automatic Dosing System of the Year in Europe 2024” award and this recognition is the confirmation that validated our advancements in this sector. Overall, it was a year of progress and valuable learning that sets very good expectations for 2025.
What were the biggest challenges that affected your company last year? How did you determine a road map to overcome these challenges?
During the last two years the textile industry is going through unstable period due to geopolitical agitation, energy crisis and drop in consumer demand. All these reasons combined with State interventions has created a difficult and challenging economic climate almost all over the world.
Fortunately, our company is part of a sector that does not always directly depend on global crises for a very simple reason: in times like these our products and solutions become even more attractive because customers are no longer interested in increasing the production capacity of their companies and focus more on improving efficiency and savings. Our machines offer total control of the use of chemicals which are dosed and monitored from start to finish eliminating waste and reducing the amount of water and energy used in the production process.

Textile dyeing sector is evolving rapidly in terms of technological developments. In recent years, issues such as sustainability, environmentally friendly technologies, digitalisation, high efficiency, low energy consumption have started to take an important place. As Color Service, how did you adapt to these changes and how did you contribute to these processes as a company?

Color Service products were born in unsuspecting times when topics such as sustainability were not talked much as emerging trends, but it was a natural need of the sector in the late 80s. Our machines are specifically designed to perform tasks like water and chemical usage control and reduction, waste and excess elimination and so on, hence our solutions help industries transition towards circular economy. Currently we are working on achieving also the ISO 14001 certification that will reaffirm our commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and environmental responsibility.
Which technological innovations do you think will shape the textile dyeing sector the most in the near future? How are you preparing for these innovations as a company?
Consumers worldwide are demanding more local, sustainable and transparent products. These new requests are already changing the global supply chain, and the textile sector is evolving into a more complex and multidimensional system. At Color Service we are redefining our technology based on the new rules of sustainability with the purpose of contributing to the industry’s main efforts. Our company’s future growth strategy depends on developing new advanced technologies in automation and smart data management, and we aim to continue to lead the way in the future as it was done for over three decades. Let’s meet at the next ITMA 2027 where we will announce our new generation machines.
What do you think about the role of Color Service in digital production and smart factories? How do developments in this field affect customer satisfaction?
The entire textile sector is moving toward industry 5.0 and Color Service solutions become indispensable in the field of automation and digital transformation. Our advanced systems are equipped with integrated software that facilitates real-time monitoring, data analysis and precise process control. The integration of smart systems enables our customers to increase their productivity and optimize their resource usage. In this way we are helping our customer to deliver better quality products by reducing waste. We believe any customer in the world would become satisfied and loyal to us as soon as they start using our machines.
It usually takes time for new technologies to be accepted in the textile dyeing industry. How does Color Service manage such technological transformations? Which factors are decisive in your investment decisions?

Color Service success is basically built and driven by the ability to create new products that generate demand on the market. This approach during the years has positioned us as market leader in our industry sector. Our customers new needs are decisive in the approach for new investments, and we focus mainly on promoting innovative products because the future of Made in Italy is located precisely in these key elements that help us maintain our competitiveness on a global level. This implies that Made in Italy cannot be just an aesthetic icon, but must assert itself through products with high technological content ready to respond to new market demands.
Do you plan to make any innovations or improvements in the customer services offered by Color Service as of 2025? How has your customer – oriented approach changed?
Our customers always know their requirements. Filling a need in an intense competition environment is very challenging, so our orientation is on highlighting our technology superiority. To respond to customer expectations is essential for competitive positioning but to redefine industries and offer new products require more risk and effort. Since 1987 Color Service company balance both approaches to sustain innovation by being the first to introduce new type of products on the market.
“Our Focus on 2025 will Be to Develop Our Network”
What are Color Service’s targets for 2025? In particular, what will be the changes in your strategies for expanding into new markets or growing in existing markets?
For 2025 our strategic focus remains on improving our network and continuing to cover all the markets we are involved remaining attractive for the industry. Currently we are investing a lot of efforts in growing our laboratory and printing sectors by bringing new developments. AI started offering hyper-personalized experience to our customers, so they are no longer oriented towards generic products and services but have started to prefer and choose personalized products. We have the advantage to be ready for this change because our company has always been known above all for a high level of customization.
Do you plan any investment or co-operation in new technologies for 2025? In which areas do you aim to innovate the most? Are there any new products you are working on?
We recently introduced a modular fully automatic laboratory equipment for atmospheric and high temperature dyeing of natural, synthetic and mixed textile fibres called ”Color Dyeing”. This machine offers a perfect simulation of production dyeing cycle and positions itself on the market as the new bridge between laboratory and production. We believe that these milestones demonstrate Color Service ability to adapt and influence the textile industry globally.
